Will Xi’s North Korea visit show Kim that China remains Pyongyang’s most vital ally?

President Xi Jinping is heading to North Korea on Monday with the aim of proving that China remains the best prospect for reviving his host country’s economy. The visit, Xi’s first in seven years, will focus on reinforcing ties with Pyongyang at a time when the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula appears increasingly out of reach, according to analysts. The carefully timed sequence of diplomatic meetings also reflects Beijing’s growing confidence on the world stage and its ability to engage

Question about the Spacex IPO and free float

Spacex is going public on June 12th with a free float of 5%. With the forecast 90 billion, the company will then be worth a total of 1.8 trillion. I find the type of evaluation somewhat idiotic. In the end, it is an asset that is larger on paper than Tesla or BTC, although there is only a fraction of capital in it. What's all this for? Just to be able to handle large numbers and put up posters? Otherwise I don't see much benefit in it. Other size companies like Apple and Nv

EU and Russia clash as Armenians head to the polls, Putin fumes

Armenians are voting on Sunday in parliamentary elections as the incumbent government, under mounting Russian pressure, seeks to loosen ties with Moscow and deepen cooperation with the West. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his ruling Civil Contract party are looking for a strong mandate for a new geopolitical course. The opposition they face includes some parties that are vocally pro-Russian. Casting his vote on Sunday, Pashinyan said that Armenia would continue strengthening its...

Operation Santa Claus: charities help Tai Po fire survivors rebuild their lives

Inside a sparsely furnished 100 sq ft public housing flat in Hong Kong’s Hung Shui Kiu, a family of two lives with little more than a bunk bed, television stand, sofa and some donated clothes racks. This flat is the temporary home of 69-year-old resident surnamed Ho and her daughter. They were among the 5,000 Wang Fuk Court residents displaced by an inferno that ravaged the Tai Po estate on November 26 last year, killing 168 people. The pair had refrained from settling into the accommodation...

Revolut deposit limit with Apple Pay now only €10,000. Which alternative to Revolut for deposits with Apple Pay can you recommend?

Revolut has now introduced a deposit limit in Germany since May 28, 2026, namely €10,000 per 31 days. I am currently depositing money from various credit card providers using Apple Pay so that there are no fees. This means I make well over €10,000 every month. You can increase the limit, but you have to verify the credit cards and then select them directly as a deposit option, but I don't want to do that because it might then no longer be free of charge.

Still in private health insurance in your late 40s?

My wife and I are thinking about switching to private health insurance now. We have been in the GKV so far, mainly out of solidarity, but also out of fear of unmanageable contributions in old age. The former is currently running out due to the very high contributions, the latter was recently credibly described by a PKV consultant as unrealistic. About us: M48, F44, married, DINK earnings (TC) M: €120k, F: €80k We have no property, nothing to inherit, but around €300k together in ETFs and T

Hong Kong should adopt the ‘Hefei model’ in the Northern Metropolis

The arrival of Yuan Gujie, the new deputy director of Beijing’s liaison office in Hong Kong, has sparked widespread speculation. Her legal background and experience in Guangdong province suggest that her posting carries a clear agenda: to promote deeper integration between Hong Kong and other Greater Bay Area cities. One thing is clear: if the Northern Metropolis is to accelerate, Hong Kong’s existing legal framework and development model may prove inadequate. A fundamental overhaul is urgently.

How do I get my father's online banking details?

First of all, I apologize if I'm in the wrong place with this topic, I'll try to keep it short. My mother kicked my father out of the apartment we shared and he is now staying with his brother abroad. When he got there, he probably had problems with his smartphone, or more precisely the roaming, and some joker in a dubious cell phone store reset it to factory settings. Of course, he was kicked out of Sparkasse online banking. I h
