Is dated brent a good long term hold instead of a normal brent crude ETF?

Tried to repost from r/oil but couldn’t, hence new post… In the last few months we all saw the disconnect with futures and the real price of oil ("dated brent"). The gap nearly reached $40 per barrel...this is bound to happen again at some point no? My wisdomtree oil ETF has not performed as well as it should have (in reality) because it only tracks brent crude futures or an index that does something similar. My brain tells me a SPOT crude oil / dated brent ETF would be far better as it wouldnt

Cancel or keep your DekaBank account?

Hi, Some time ago my father opened a DekaBank depot for me at the savings bank and saved the following three CFs there every month: - Deka-Aktien Impact CF (LU2109588199) 25% - Deka-UmweltInvest CF (DE000DK0ECS2) 25% - Deka-Industrie 4.0 CF (LU1508359509) 50% - When I was a When I finished my studies a year ago and then had my first full-time job, he said that he would either change the standing order to me or delete it completely. Since at that point I would rather go to an Al

ETF/General Investment vs. Savings Bank Retirement Provision

I recently had a conversation at the Sparkasse because they wanted to talk to me about retirement planning. I don't really plan on using the savings bank to invest, as they are known to want pretty wild percentages. I went anyway, and I immediately rejected the topics like actively managed funds for “only” 3.5% fees. Building savings contract doesn't really make sense either, so the only thing that remained was the topic of retirement provision. The "advisor" was at least transparent enough to say that the whole thing

Does ETF saving make sense with a short investment horizon?

Hello my ETF disciples, I have finally managed to build up an emergency fund equal to 3 months' salary. With the next salary payments I would like to invest fully in the MSCI World and would like some advice. My concerns: I have heard that up to €1,000 per year in profits remain tax-free, is that true and if so, under what conditions can I maximize this? I financed an electric car. The whole thing will start in October/September, then we

Those that moved to any European country from Canada how did you manage dealing with the difference in currency?

Those that have investments in CAD and are either retiring or moved to any European country how did you manage dealing with the currency difference between the Euro and the Canadian dollar? What type of preparation did you have? Did you need to save more than expected or less? Many have said to not look at the currency difference as costs are lower in European countries (less Switzerland and other specific countries) versus Canada even after currency conversion. Should I be converting my entire

Getting into ETF after big stock gains

Hi, started investing one year ago and grew my stock portfolio to 50k mainly with big tech. Probably over 50% returns this year. I know it’s been a bull market for tech stocks, basically impossible to lose money. But how do I even settle for the common recommendation of an ETF yielding 10% per year, after tasting those nice high returns? Can someone talk some sense into me and tell me I’ll go broke with my entire portfolio made of Nvidia, Google and Amazon? submitted by /u/90towest [link] [comme

Thinking on this 4-block quant setup for the long term (30+ years). 1.27x Exposure.

The nominal split is: 30% QQQ / 30% GDE / 20% PPA / 20% AVDV. The cool part here is the real effective exposure is ~127%. It uses GDE (Wisdomtree efficient gold), which basically holds 90% SPY and 90% gold futures using T-Bills (And stock) as collateral. So you get leverage without paying broker margin rates or risking a forced account liquidation (you'd need like an immediate -80% drop on both gold and SPY on the same day to wreck the collateral). I backtested this from 1988 to 2025 using proxi

Financial planning for your first job after graduation

Hi everyone! Hoping for your swarm knowledge, here is my (W26) planning for the finances with my first job. Do you think this is okay so far? The “Luxury Savings” item is for vacations or more expensive purchases and is intended to be further replenished with the surplus of fun that will sometimes exist. €1300 is what I want to put on my ETF right at the beginning of the month. Emergency fund is currently available, amount 10k. Does something seem like a lot? Would you advise me to rearrange something there? Speaking of which

Move loss offset pot

Hello, I have 2 depots. A well-running ETF portfolio at ING and an individual stock portfolio at Trade Republic, which I continue to liquidate. Now I have accumulated a large pot of loss offsets in the TR depot. Can I transfer this to my ING portfolio via a securities account transfer so that I can offset the losses for tax purposes if I sell securities later? I'm grateful for any advice. Thank you submitted by /u/ObjectAccomplished14 [link] [comments]

Automatic reinvestment of dividends after portfolio transfer creates a new transaction, so double commission is deducted - why?

Hello everyone, maybe you can help me because the bank's support hasn't answered me yet. Some time ago I made a portfolio transfer from ExotenETFs away from ING to a Baader Depot (Finance Zero) because the ETFs at ING are not qualified for automatic reinvestment. So, all well and good, reinvesting works with Finance Zero. Great. Unfortunately, the new shares that are being reinvested via Finance Zero appear to be a separate process

ETF Portfolio Advice: VWRA, VUAA, CSNDX

Hi everyone, I am building a long-term investment portfolio with Irish-domiciled ETFs. My current portfolio allocation is: VWRA: 46.4% VUAA: 35.4% CSNDX: 18.2% I know there is some overlap because VWRA already includes US stocks, while VUAA gives more S&P 500 exposure and CSNDX gives more Nasdaq/tech exposure. I am planning to add around 30% more money to my total portfolio. How would you suggest I invest the new amount? Should I keep adding to VWRA, VUAA, and CSNDX, or should I add another Iris

How to best replenish emergency fund?

Hi all, I have an emergency fund of around 30k (6 times my monthly income) but will need to use 3 to 4K for necessary expenses on the roof of my property. At the moment, I save monthly about 200€ in my emergency fund, 200€ for travels and I invest 500€ monthly in an ETF. What would be the most efficient way to replenish the emergency fund? Do I prioritise it and stop investing until it is back at 30k? Do I make a split? I don’t have much room to save/invest more atm because of a big mortgage… In

Fixed income strategy in early retirement

I retired a few months ago with liquid assets that will bridge me until my annuity income and social security kick in three years from now. The rest of my money is in an IRA, that I had in 65% VT/12% BND/10% VTIP/8% TIPS ETF ladder/5% SGOV. I won't be tapping the IRA portfolio at all until 2029, and even then it will be a relatively small amount. I was good with that allocation until this week, when I figured out that I was assuming the 12% BND allocation was worthwhile as a volatility smoother,

Is AVLV a good satellite holding to hedge against heavy tech concentration in an S&P 500 portfolio?

For investors using a robo-advisor like Betterment that concentrates roughly two-thirds of a portfolio into the S&P 500 (with the rest in international, mid/small cap, and bonds), does adding a 5% to 8% tilt into a large-cap value fund like AVLV make sense? The goal would be a modern value tilt without going as traditional or "old school" as something like a Schwab value fund. Has anyone looked into using a factor ETF like AVLV specifically to reduce risk if mega-cap tech and the AI boom slow do

RIVN vs GOOG? If you had to choose, which would you invest in at current pricing?

I’ve had good 100%+ gains on my GOOG gains this past year. I’m also an adamant believer in Rivian growth, with their new R2 release. Based on today’s pricing and market conditions would you maintain existing GOOG position, or move it to Rivian at current low pricing? Note, I currently have a good size position in RIVN, but wanted to make it bigger. My thinking is that GOOG already dry represents ~6% of S&P500 index ETF, so I have a good level of exposure to it through my ETFs alone… thoughts? su

I want to get into cryptocurrency, but my account won’t allow me to purchase crypto directly or through a spot ETF.

So I have a Fidelity custodial account, and I really want to get into cryptocurrency, but my account won’t allow me to purchase crypto directly or through a spot ETF. So that leaves me with the option to after a company like Coinbase or Microstrategy. I’m concerned about microstrategy because I’m concerned about Bitcoin with their lack of quantum resistance, but I feel like they could still come back up at least one more time? And obviously if Bitcoin goes quantum resistant, then that risk is no

Moving from a €10k/year Bank Mandate to a Self-Managed ETF Portfolio – Feedback on Allocation?

Hi all, I’m looking to move our family portfolio away from a discretionary bank mandate into a self-managed ETF portfolio. The main drivers are high costs (currently running above €10k annually) and underperformance from the active management. Our horizon is long-term wealth generation (even past retirement, as we will receive state pensions), with some optionality for future life events like the kids' university or housing. The EUR figures below are just for scale, but the percentages are the r
