Russia’s Oil Windfall Vanishes as Urals Crashes to $42 a Barrel

Russian crude oil prices have fallen back to where they were before the Middle East war, with its flagship Urals averaging just $41.66 a barrel during the first three days of July. The drop wipes out the revenue boost Moscow received from the conflict and pressures a federal budget that assumes oil prices of about $59 a barrel. Urals had averaged more than $59 a barrel every month since March and climbed to $60.92 in June after the U.S. and Iran reached an agreement to restore shipping through t

Advance flat rate ETFs (MSCI World)

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of preparing my tax return and have a question about the advance flat rate. How is the advance flat rate calculated if an ETF is only purchased or saved during the year, i.e. there was no inventory at the beginning of the year? In this case, can an advance flat rate be charged for the year in question, and if so, how is the basic income determined? Thank you in advance for your help! submitted by /u/Lost_Editor1863 [link] [comments]

ITV and Comcast’s Sky reshape British TV landscape with US$2.1 billion deal

Comcast’s Sky has agreed to buy the broadcast channels and streaming service of Britain’s ITV for £1.6 billion (US$2.13 billion), creating a British champion to compete with global players YouTube, Netflix, Amazon and Disney. Sky CEO Dana Strong said the deal, announced on Monday and confirming a Reuters story, was a “defining moment” in British broadcasting. The combination of Britain’s biggest free-to-air commercial broadcaster, home of the soap opera Coronation Street, and subscription...

Carbon Markets Just Had Their Most Important Moment in Years

For much of the past decade, carbon credits have suffered from a credibility problem. Critics called them greenwashing, environmental groups questioned their effectiveness, and a series of poorly designed projects damaged confidence in the entire market. As a result, carbon credits found themselves in an uncomfortable position: too important to abandon, yet too controversial to fully embrace. That is why a seemingly technical announcement from Hess Corporation deserves far more attention than it

Retiring in 4 years: how would you diversify a highly concentrated US portfolio?

Hello folks, I’d like to hear general views on long-term portfolio construction for someone approaching retirement in about 4 years. Quick background: Current net worth: around €700k Current allocation: roughly 95% US large-cap equities, 5% crypto I keep investing monthly, around €7k per month I do not plan to sell my current holdings I am only using new contributions to gradually diversify What I’m trying to understand: How do people think about reducing concentration risk in a portfolio that i

How you are all preserving capital?

I feel like the stock market is overvalued right now, and the risk/reward isn't there for me personally. Most companies are experimenting with and overspending on AI without any clear ROI yet. The same logic applies to chip and memory stocks, prices are up only because of huge demand driven by data center buildouts and hyperscalers competing with each other, but the moment any one of them slows down capex, those order books get canceled fast, and the premiums they're charging will vanish. I feel

UK's $667 Billion Net-Zero Bill Could Make Britain Uncompetitive

The UK's cost to meet its ambitious net-zero and clean power goals is a massive $667 billion, or £500 billion, which would be heavily front-loaded capital expenditure that will hurt businesses and bill payers, according to trade association Energy Industries Council. Estimates from the Climate Change Committee (CCC) and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) suggest that the necessary energy and energy infrastructure projects, including renewable energy, grid, and transmission upgrades and

Buy the cheapest product from the luxury brand, experiences?

I know that this sub is rather economical, but I still wondered if there are people here who have treated themselves to the cheapest product from a high-end luxury brand. Porsche Boxter or Rolex OP immediately come to mind. My question is whether you were happy with the purchase. Was it a significant upgrade to the previous product, how was it received in the environment and would you have preferred to treat yourself to “the right one”, i.e. the 911, Daydate, etc. And why did it not?

How do you deal with fomo of not having invested (early 30s dude)

It hasn't been that long since I've been having enough savings that it makes sense to me to invest. I come from a country of poor financial education (might be easy to guess) and have always thought that investing is like gambling (there was a huge investment bubble in my country wherein people lost a shitton of money). Now I want to start learning and applying myself. It's difficult to deal with regret of not having started sooner (though I didn't have that much money until 1-2 years). submitte

Pakistan Bypasses Afghanistan With New Corridors Through Iran and China

Pakistan has approved and operationalized new land routes to connect Central Asian markets to Pakistani ports and beyond, utilizing strategic corridors through Iran and China to bypass Afghanistan entirely. This shift was solidified in April 2026 when Pakistan Customs launched the first export consignment from the Karachi Export Processing Zone to Kyrgyzstan via the Sost Dry Port in China under the TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers) regime. Pakistan’s decision to diversify transit away fro
