Increase and expansion of the GastroInvest funding program

In a motion for a resolution on the Thuringian Budget Law 2025, the AfD parliamentary group is calling for an expansion of the “GastroInvest” funding program in order to support the catering and hotel industry, which is under pressure due to economic burdens and stricter requirements. In its application, the group states that rising energy and food prices, stricter fire safety requirements and the increase in VAT on food from 7% to 19% would put many businesses in dire straits. The AfD parliamentary group is therefore calling for the program to be increased to five million euros, for the funding to be made available as direct cost reimbursement instead of just for loan repayment, and for the funding to be explicitly expanded to include investments in fire protection. The motion for a resolution was rejected with 53 votes against. 30 MPs voted in favor, there were no abstentions.
