New responsibility: BfDI takes over data protection supervision according to the Data Act

With the entry into force of the Data Regulation Application and Enforcement Act (DADG) on May 30, 2026, the BfDI will receive new legal responsibility: It will monitor the application of the so-called “Data Act” (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854) towards business and federal public bodies as far as personal data is concerned.
