Buying a house with unequal equity and inheritance: how to regulate it fairly?

Hello everyone, I need your assessment and tips for buying a property as fairly as possible when there is unequal equity and inheritance (or inheritance expectations). We (let's call ourselves civil servant Bea and employee Anton) are a married couple, live in a community with children and are currently planning to buy a house. To simplify matters, let’s assume a round purchase price of €1 million (including utilities). However, our respective requirements for equity and retirement provision differ greatly: Angeste

Iran threatens US interests and Israel after strike on Beirut

Iran’s chief negotiator warned on Sunday that an Israeli strike on south Beirut and the continuing US blockade of Iranian ports would trigger retaliation. Israel struck Beirut’s southern suburbs without warning on Sunday, days after a ceasefire agreement in Washington went into effect and despite a US request not to attack Lebanon’s capital. Lebanon’s state-run national news agency said two people were killed and 11 wounded in a preliminary count. Iran had warned that an attack on Beirut would..

We have 1.5M euro in investments and looking for a place to retire with this amount. Most is in VWCE. Family of 3 - we are around 40 years old and our child is 8.

Any suggestions? If you had to retire with this amount and a child. What country will you choose? I will be working on side projects which can become successful/profitable but let's pretend this is all the money you have to work with. In addition to the 1.5M we have a property worth 500K that we will rent out to fund rent where we go, or sell to buy property where we go to live. Britain's Net Zero Policy Is Killing Its Chemical Industry

From ammonia to plastics, there can be no modern economy without a functioning chemicals industry, and Britain's is in peril, writes Sharon Todd The recent announcement of a £350m Critical Chemicals Resilience Fund from Chancellor Rachel Reeves is welcome but it is also an acknowledgement of an uncomfortable truth: the UK's chemicals sector is in trouble. Up and down the country energy intensive manufacturing is faltering. The Chancellor has also announced £120m for the ceramics sector, providin

My value picks for the rest of the year

I've posted numerous times that I compare the projected revenue growth and trailing operating margin to the enterprise multiple to calculate what I call a Value Score. The median Value Score for all stocks is about 1.0. If a stock has a Value Score above 2.0, I consider it for a buy. My current portfolio, and what has given me a 65.8% YTD return, is MU, NVDA, GOOGL, LLY, MSFT and META. Despite Friday's pullback, my model says keep holding. Valuation Model If you are a bot and want to slam me, pl

Liability insurance

I am a 19 year old student and have zero knowledge of insurance. It has come to my attention that it is totally risky and stupid to live without liability, as something can happen at any time that causes massive financial damage. Of course, I'm not asking for professional advice on Reddit. But does anyone know of a recommended liability insurance policy with which I won't go wrong and will finally be covered? Edit: thanks for the tips. I moved out and don't have my parents

More than 1 million people flood Madrid streets to see Pope Leo preside over open-air Mass

Pope Leo honoured Spain’s centuries-old tradition of religious devotion on Sunday as a “school of faith” for today, as he presided over a Mass before more than a million people that highlighted one of the most iconic expressions of Spanish popular piety: a procession over flower-petal carpets. The crowd cheered and shouted “This is the youth of the pope!” as Leo arrived for the Mass at a central Madrid plaza. He looped around the plaza and surrounding streets in his Popemobile before a crowd...

This week: May CPI inflation will break above 4% and ECB will hike on Thurday

For those wondering if markets have more room to fall.. On Wednesday US CPI data for the month of May will be released and having looked at the latest estimates from major firms, it's almost certain headline CPI will break above 4% again for the first time since April 2023. Estimates are 4.1 to 4.2% which will bring Fed hikes back into focus. Core CPI is also expected to edge up to a seven-month high of 2.9%, which is more concerning since this strips out oil from the headline data. For the mont

Investing money for someone else's child

Hello everyone, I would like to make financial provisions for a child who I have the feeling will need support growing up (not a child of my own). My goal is to build wealth without having to rely on decades of trust in my parents. Something like: - No access for me: As soon as the money is deposited, it should no longer be legally mine (protection from my own creditors). - Protection from parents: Parents should protect the child

Scammers posing as police cheat 42 mainland students in Hong Kong out of millions

More than 40 mainland students studying in Hong Kong fell victim to scammers impersonating Chinese law enforcement officers in the first quarter of this year, police said on Sunday, with the biggest case involving over HK$8 million (US$1.02 million). Among the 42 cases, one victim was tricked into staging her own “abduction” after being lured to Thailand, despite having attended anti-scam courses at her university. Hong Kong police said students from across the border accounted for a quarter of.

The Space X IPO, Congressional Failure to Address Orbital Debris and the International Law Polluter Pays Principle

Here's another reason why the Space X IPO is a huge risk. The polluter pays principle in international law as set forth in the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development “that the polluter should, in principle, bear the cost of pollution” Both Democratic and Republican Administrations and Congresses have not only failed to address orbital debris, they have explicitly avoided regulating the commercial space industry in order to allow it to avoid external costs of environmental compliance, hum
