Is it reasonable/normal to verify a call from a money transfer service before discussing account information by asking to either switch to email or by me going and calling the official number to verify the request?

For example, would it be normal to either: Ask if the matter can be handled by email instead, or End the call and contact the company myself using the official customer service number to verify that the request is genuine.
