The CDU/CSU parliamentary group has introduced a bill to “limit the illegal influx of third-country nationals into Germany”. The so-called “Influx Limitation Act” provides for stricter migration policy and is intended, among other things, to end family reunification with people with subsidiary protection until further notice. In addition, according to the draft law, the Federal Police should in future have their own authority to take measures to terminate residence at certain German train stations and the word “limitation” should be included in the Residence Act again as an overarching goal with regard to the immigration of foreigners. The bill was rejected with 349 votes against, 338 votes in favor, and five abstentions from the FDP parliamentary group.
