Demands for the realignment of climate and energy policy
An emergency motion from the AfD parliamentary group calling for a fundamental change of course in climate and energy policy was rejected in the Bavarian state parliament. According to the applicants, the state government should advocate for the repeal or far-reaching changes to various laws at federal, EU and Bundesrat level, including the Climate Protection Act, the Renewable Energy Sources Act and the Building Energy Act. The AfD justified its initiative with its assessment that the previous energy transition and climate protection measures caused high economic and social costs, put a strain on the energy supply and had a negative impact on nature and the landscape. The emergency motion was rejected with 105 votes against. 22 MPs voted in favor, there were no abstentions.
