Funding for the development of open source software
The Bavarian state parliament voted on an amendment from the ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS parliamentary group to the 2026/2027 budget. The application proposes to set up a new funding program for the development of open source software and to provide one million euros in each of 2026 and 2027. According to the Greens, this should strengthen the development and use of open-source software and promote the digital sovereignty of the state and administration. In addition, the dependence on individual software providers should be reduced and the transparency and traceability of government IT solutions should be improved. The amendment was rejected by 118 votes against to 36 votes in favor. There were no abstentions.
