In the Bundestag, two motions from the ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS faction regarding the reconstruction of Ukraine using frozen Russian state assets were rejected. Since Ukraine urgently needs funds for defense, supply of the population and reconstruction - including destroyed cultural infrastructure - the parliamentary group calls on the federal government in its first motion to work within the G7 states to make the frozen Russian state assets available to Ukraine. The frozen assets amount to 260 billion euros, of which around 210 billion euros are within the EU. Germany must reaffirm its comprehensive military, humanitarian and financial support for Ukraine and make it clear that only the restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity can make lasting peace possible. At the same time, MPs emphasize that hesitant support cannot end the war and that more decisive action is necessary. The Finance Committee made a recommendation for the application, recommending that the application be rejected. The recommendation for a resolution was voted on and the application was recommended to be rejected. This was approved with 455 votes in favour, 77 against and 53 abstentions.
