As Asia’s strategic landscape evolves, what is the Quad’s purpose?

When foreign ministers of countries that are part of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) gathered in New Delhi last week, the agenda looked familiar: supply chain resilience, telecommunications security and maritime domain awareness. The talking points have evolved, the initiatives have multiplied and the meetings have become routine. Asia is entering a new strategic era. However, its geopolitical debate remains stuck in the previous one. Across the region, governments are investing in...

Trump storms out of tense NBC interview about Iran war strategy, election fraud claims

US President Donald Trump lasted through scrutinising questions about his Iran war strategy and repeated weather disruptions during an interview with US broadcaster NBC – but angrily stormed out when confronted over his unfounded claims of election fraud. “You’re a one-sided, crooked network. Sorry. Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling. Have a good time,” Trump told Meet the Press host Kristen Welker before standing up and walking out of the interview that aired...

S&P 500 will not be fast tracking SpaceX entry into its index and it won't waive its rule for unprofitable AI companies

The June 4 decision means that SpaceX will not gain accelerated access to potentially billions more dollars through passive investment funds that automatically purchase shares of S&P 500 companies. Modifying the rules in response to SpaceX’s request could have also allowed leading AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic to gain entry not long after their own expected IPOs. That possibility has now been shuttered. As a primarily boglehead investor, this is the best news I've heard all week. htt

Brazilian planemaker Embraer expects to eventually bring its E2 jets into China, seeing a role for the aircraft among the country’s domestically developed models, a senior executive told Reuters on Sunday. “We have a dedicated team in Beijing, they’re day-to-day working in China,” Embraer Commercial Aviation ‌CEO Arjan Meijer said on the sidelines of a global gathering of top airline executives in Rio de Janeiro. “We believe the E2 family is the ideal complement to the indigenous products of..

Just throw around €10,000 into an ETF?

I only started investing last month and have created small savings plans every month. However, my parents once put around €6,000 into a savings account for me (with a phenomenal 0.1% interest at the moment!). Logically, I would now like to liquidate that. And another €6,000 in a normal checking account, saved through money for birthdays and Christmas, etc. I also saved around €6,000 myself. I would use a good portion as an emergency fund

Post-War Oil Trade Could Look Nothing Like It Did Before Hormuz

Persian Gulf oil exporters are scrambling to reroute their crude from ports to pipelines to keep the world running and keep their oil money flowing and fueling their economies. Sanction waivers abound. Venezuela’s oil output has shot up to 1.25 million barrels daily. The world of energy after the end of the war in the Middle East will be a very different one from what we’ve become accustomed to over the last five years. When the United States and Israel first fired on Iran, the overwhelming assu

Anyone else find the EU job market way harder to navigate than expected — wrong platforms, salary confusion, interview prep that doesn't apply here?

Took me way longer than it should have to figure out the EU job market. Wrong platforms, no idea what salary to ask for, blanked in interviews on questions I should have seen coming. Eventually got it sorted and wrote everything down so someone else doesn't have to go through the same thing. The free PDF covers: — Best job platforms for Germany, Netherlands, France, Croatia, Poland and 8 more EU countries (including EURES which most people completely ignore) — Real graduate salary ranges for 13

Best foreign domiciled ETF for S&P 500?

I'm not American and dont live in the US. However, my wife is American, (but not a US resident). I recently learned that upon my passing, all of my US domiciled equity holdings in VOO will be subject to US estate taxes before they are given to my wife! I'm annoyed I didnt know this already, but glad I found out before its too late! It seems I can bypass this liability by moving into non-US domiciled etfs, such as VUAA. I also learned that i can lower my dividend taxes from 30% to 15% in non-US d

Who pays the €9,600 depositary fee from Deka Fond?

[no, I didn't buy it] Hello everyone, it's about this fund: Deka MSCI World Climate Change ESG CTB UCITS ETF WKN: ETFL58 | ISIN: DE000ETFL581 I'm just reading in the sales prospectus about the at least €9,600 annually that has to be paid by someone to someone as a depositary fee. Who can enlighten me about the details? Is this the fee that the Sparkasse pays to Deka Bank to manage shares for its customers? That would be absurdly cheap compared to

A Palestinian man with Israeli citizenship went on a shooting rampage in several towns in central Israel on Sunday, killing a reservist and wounding five other people, according to Israeli police and the military. The attacker was killed by police. The attack came at a time of heightened tensions following a spate of Israeli settler attacks and the deadly shooting of a Palestinian baby over the weekend in the nearby West Bank. Police identified the attacker as a resident of the Arab town of...

Anyone changing their plans for SpaceX?

Today I learned that SpaceX won't be automatically added to the S&P 500 after its IPO because it doesn't meet the index requirements. For those planning to invest in SpaceX, does this change your strategy at all? Are you still buying right away, waiting, or passing? https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/06/sp-500-blocks-fast-spacex-entry-wont-waive-rule-for-unprofitable-ai-firms/ submitted by /u/RadiantFix2149 [link] [comments]
