BaV in addition to the retirement savings account

My AG offers attractive funding for BaV at Swiss Life. I calculated everything very conservatively because I'm actually not a fan of that sort of thing, but it's a good offer thanks to the Höhen AG subsidy and government funding. However, I am wondering whether, based on the current status, I would have a disadvantage if I opened a retirement savings account next year, i.e. if only one of these options is funded per citizen or something similar, then I would probably not apply for the BaV

Writing’s on the wall for the bond market – for those who can read it

There is a good deal more to the rapid rise in bond yields around the world, not least in Asia, than meets the eye. It suggests a recognition by financial markets that governments are spending beyond their means, tax revenues and borrowing power. The implication is that either taxes need to rise or public spending needs to fall, or alternatively that financial markets, stock markets in particular, must shift their priorities away from glamour stocks in the tech and artificial intelligence (AI)..

US senator warns of Indo-Pacific risks as Hegseth stresses ‘quiet’ tactics

America’s latest defence strategy worryingly downgrades the importance of the Indo-Pacific, a US senator warned on Saturday, even as the Pentagon chief delivered a speech reassuring allies of commitment at a defence forum in Singapore. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, a staunch critic of the US-Israeli war on Iran, told a media round table at the Shangri-La Dialogue that she was concerned the Trump administration was being distracted by conflict in other theatres that would dent commitment to the...

Hello everyone, we are currently collecting ideas regarding our agricultural land - I would be happy to receive feedback and creative ideas :) Current status: - currently leased to a farmer but with an ancient contract - annual return without inflation (0.5%) - building land is definitely very unlikely Ideas: - increase the lease and minimally more return - terminate the lease...: - and sell the farmland - or put up a tiny house and rent it out (e.g. like raus.life, Airbnb) - or Build a solar field

New study shows world pouplation could halve as early as 2064, how would you invest in times of population decline?

We invest because in the long run, stocks only go up. But a lot of this growth comes from a non stop growing world population. What happens if this trend reverses? Global population forecasts have already adapted to more conservative growth projections for the short/mid term future. A new math based study even finds a worst case scenario where the world's population could halve by 2064. This scenario assumes a major global crisis, for example due to climate change or another major pandemic. http

US man asserts if simple teacher and China farmer can grow a forest, world leaders can find peace

A retired American teacher is planning to travel to China in late summer for a reunion with a female farmer he assisted decades ago. In 1999, Ronald Sakolsky, then teaching English in China, was inspired by Inner Mongolian farmer Yin Yuzhen’s battle against desertification and donated US$5,000 to support her tree-planting efforts in the Maowusu Desert. This contribution enabled Yin to plant some of her earliest trees, sowing the seeds of a lasting friendship across continents. Recently, the two.

Hong Kong to curb flavoured tobacco in next phase of controls: health chief

Hong Kong authorities will crack down on flavoured tobacco substances in the next phase of its enhanced smoking control measures, with the health minister describing such products as a “poisoned chalice” designed to hook younger people. Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau warned on Saturday that flavoured tobacco was mostly delivered through e-cigarettes, with additives containing menthol or sugar-coated toxins used to mask the bitterness and smell of tobacco and attract young consumers. “About 70

Open a German bank account as a German abroad? (DKB, etc.)

Good Morning! Unfortunately, I'm not an expert on this topic, but I wanted to ask if someone could give me some food for thought here. I have been deregistered since 2014, spent 10 years in the UK and have been traveling more or less half-yearly since 2024, although my main residence, center of life and tax number are in Thailand. I'm using Wise at the moment, but I'm not really happy with it because it's not a "real" bank. What could I possibly consider?

Hong Kong cuts emergency mobile alert activation time from an hour to 15 minutes

Hong Kong authorities have slashed the time needed to send emergency mobile alerts to residents from an hour to 15 minutes under a HK$150 million (US$19 million) system, while messages can now be tailored to specific districts, the security chief has revealed. A hearing session into the deadly Wang Fuk Court fire in April had exposed the lengthy time needed to trigger the alert. But security chief Chris Tang Ping-keung on Saturday stopped short of specifying the types of incidents, such as major
