Student M22 with a mini-job and long-distance relationship

Here's an obligatory Sankey. I am currently studying computer science in a large city in northern Germany and live with my sister in a 2-room apartment. I have a well-paid mini-job in the IT sector with just a few hours. The rent is paid by the parents, along with insurance. The high vacation costs are because my boyfriend lives in Switzerland and we go on vacation together (in central/southern Germany) every 4-6 weeks. And yes, I have YouTube P

Trump urges new spy chief Pulte to gut US intelligence community

US President Donald Trump said Friday he wants his incoming acting spy chief to start firing employees, deepening the controversy over the appointment of a man with no previous intelligence experience. Bill Pulte, a Trump loyalist who heads the Federal Housing Finance Agency, was named by the Republican president on Tuesday as acting Director of National Intelligence. “If he cut, I wouldn’t mind that,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, adding that the number of employees in Pulte’s...

Waiting to invest on different days of the month?

I know traditional advice says "time in market beats timing the market". I get paid once a month on the first of the month and that's when my 403(b) contributions and employer match are taken out. I generally invest in my taxable brokerage on the 10th-15th of every month. My rationale is my 403(b) contributions will always capture the first of the month consistently and my post-tax contributions will capture a slightly delayed window consistently. I've heard there's typically a lull in the middl

We invest in AI but oppose its impacts

My father always taught me to invest in companies offering services or products I believe in. Aside from the obvious upside of increasing valuations, how do we justify our personal investments in tech companies, chip ETFs, etc.? Communities across the country are protesting the installation of data centers. Most Americans are petrified of losing their jobs to AI. Environmental impacts from AI are ever-increasing. SpaceX’s IPO document asserts its AI-driven revenue will reach $28.5 trillion, roug

Exit tax?

Can someone simply explain to me the concept/principle of exit tax? I have no shares, but 100% shares in an LLC in the USA. Source KPMG "The German tax authorities treat the move as a fictitious sale of your shares and tax the increase in value up to that point (the "hidden reserves") immediately, even if you haven't sold the shares at all." How does it all work? How does the tax authorities calculate the damage (lol)? Why does something like this even exist? submitted by /u/jimmyglo

Death of girl, 11, in France sparks storm over cracks in judicial system

A firestorm of recrimination raged in France on Friday over failures in the justice system that kept a man now suspected in the disappearance and death of an 11-year-old girl out of custody despite allegations that he preyed on young adolescents. The disappearance of the girl identified by police as Lyhanna and days of searches that ended with the discovery of her body in a disused grain silo have gripped national and, increasingly, political attention since she went missing in the southwestern.

Who has ideas for a Tecis request?

I made a stupid decision years ago when I was 20. But I set the deposit to a minimum and, with help from the sub here, I selected the funds I would pay into so that I didn't lose everything. Now an email came from the representative... who has any ideas on how best to react? Somehow I just want to ignore them, but on the other hand I also want to tell them what shit they're doing. Edit: Unfortunately I can't cancel. Then the sales value is €0

Healthcare doomvesting - opportunities in dystopia

The US healthcare system is an ongoing train wreck and federal and state governments have yet to implement any real plan for fixing it other than randomly throwing cash at one segment or another. What I want to do here is provide an overview of the problems and which companies are poised to profit off of them. This is going to be long because healthcare is very complicated. I'm not including alternative medicine because grifters abound in that market so I haven't done any research on it. First l

Principal Protected Notes

I have a friend who told me about Principal Protected Notes. Can someone please give me the pros and cons of these? From our understanding the only risk to your money is if the issuing bank went under, with the upside of great returns. They were telling him about 12%+ or more returns a year, with very little risk. There has to be a big catch to these, but we cannot find it. It is a financial product people are trying to sell, so it seems like it is just to good to be true. If anyone knows more a

Okay so all these talks off bubbles

I am not much into chart reading but all the hoohaa about AI being a bubble just makes me think its not a bubble. But seing the price of Gold the chart looks eerily similar to the wall street crash before the 1929. Gold looks like a bubble to me. And I am a gold bug btw hey I am into the Austrian School of Economics, although I am not a fanatic about it. I mean the gold option is the doom and gloom. ..ahhh goverments are printing so much money, we are gonna have hyperinflation etc.... I mean gov
