Best options (low risk and for beginners) to keep 15k of savings for a year?

Hi, I'm new to investing, I have 15k on an account that I plan to keep untouched (and continue to save on it) for a year, after the year I will need the money. Currently have it in a savings account where it is earning 2%, so below inflation. I currently do not have a lot of time to nerd out on this stuff or do super complicated strategies, what is something safe and simple? even if its not the best earnings, I just need to keep it above inflation. Chat GPT suggested Euro Money Market Fund (MMF)

What is your goal when investing in stocks/ETFs/others?

I'm basically having an early mid-life crisis. I earn €3000 net and have around 1/3 of this money freely available. The 2/3 includes everything you can plan for (inspection, TÜV, birthday and Christmas presents for your girlfriend, subscriptions, living, etc.) The 1/3 are really “over”. Of the 1000-1100€ I save 200€ a month for vacations, 200€ I give myself for leisure activities (although these usually amount to 100€), 500€ go into an ETF and the rest

Will Philippines’ new bill entrench the political dynasties it aims to curb?

A long-delayed bill meant to curb political dynasties in the Philippines – where powerful families dominate elected offices from Congress to local government – has moved closer to becoming law, but critics say the measure could end up protecting the clans it claims to restrain. The House of Representatives approved the measure in early June, a rare advance for an anti-dynasty law, nearly four decades after the 1987 constitution directed Congress to define and prohibit political...

Mainland ride-hailing giants back Hong Kong plan to cap permits at 10,000

Two mainland Chinese ride-hailing operators in Hong Kong have backed a controversial plan to regulate the industry by capping vehicle permits at 10,000, a figure the city’s largest American business chamber considers insufficient. In submissions to the Legislative Council on Monday and in recent days, Amap and Didi Chuxing said they supported the Transport and Logistics Bureau’s proposed cap as part of a new regulatory regime scheduled to be passed by lawmakers in July. Amap said the...

What retail apocalypse? Southeast Asia’s malls are sitting pretty

A cursory look at the ranking of the world’s largest shopping centres shows the scale of the decline in the US retail property market. The US has only one, the Mall of America near Minneapolis, Minnesota, among the top 20. This is not surprising given that virtually no shopping centres were built in the last two decades. A succession of shocks – which included the disruptive impact of e-commerce, the financial woes of department stores that served as anchor tenants for most malls and the damage.

Qatar Races to Restore LNG Exports Despite Ras Laffan Setback

Qatar is calling back empty LNG carriers in preparation for the restart of exports despite ongoing repairs at the Ras Laffan complex, and an explosion that rocked the facility on Sunday. Three carriers for liquefied gas owned by QatarEnergy are heading towards the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz from the Gulf of Oman, Bloomberg reported, citing shipping data. The data also showed another five Qatari-linked LNG tankers near the Omani coast, and a few more that are on their way home. Qatar has be

Has anyone else become “addicted” to investing?

I’m 21 in college with a paid year long internship, and bc of scholarships I’ve been very lucky with avoiding any college costs and loan debt for the future. Because of this, I almost invest ALL of the money I make from my internship into individual stocks and index funds. Of course I’ll eat out and spend some money every now and then, but I’d say that’s less than 1% of where my money goes to. I even get these sudden urges to pull hundreds and even thousands out my checkings and transferring it

Revolutionary Guard claim is ‘outright lie’, says Iran’s football federation

US claims that an individual with ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) tried to join the Iran team’s flight to the United States on Saturday are “fabricated and entirely baseless allegations”, the country’s football federation (FFIRI) has said. Markwayne Mullin, the US Homeland Security Secretary, told Fox News on Sunday that someone under the guise of being the Iranian federation (FFIRI) president tried to board the team’s flight to Los Angeles from Mexico for Sunday’s World Cup
