How to deal with small amounts of money

I would like to invest but I only have small amounts (1-2k euros a month) that I can put it. I have been wondering what is a good approach in my case - put it all in a broad ETF of stocks as it has generally returned 8% long term adjusted for inflation or pick stocks. The former will grow always, unless capitalism fails, but generally slowly. The latter is riskier but it could outperform. The question is does it make sense to put the money in one diversified place or try to squeeze that outperfo

Financed car turns out to be a repair trap - what next? (Ford Focus MK4, 156,000 km)

Hello, I need your advice. In 2025 I financed a Ford Focus MK4 1.5 EcoBlue automatic (EZ 12/2020, 136,000 km) from a dealer for 12,000 euros plus interest. Unfortunately, this purchase later turned out to be a mistake. After an accident in which a tension belt from a vehicle in front damaged my car, the expert found that the previous damage had clearly been repaired. At the time of purchase and in the purchase contract there was only mention of a small repainting

Counterparty risk assumptions

I'm a big believer in value investing and Warren Buffett's ideas of buying companies for less than what they're worth. But here's the part that I could never wrap my head around... Let's say a company's "intrinsic value" is $200 per share, but the stock price is $100/share. Ok, so that's a good buy then, you're buying "a dollar for fifty cents", as Buffett puts it. But, in order to make money, the PRICE needs to go up, because you need to sell it. You only own a tiny fraction of the company, so

In D-Day speech, Hegseth urges Europe to counter ‘invasion’ of migrants

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth on Saturday urged Europe to counter what he termed an “invasion” of its coastline by migration, as he marked the 82nd anniversary of the World War II D-Day landings in northern France. Hegseth also called on European countries to do more to contribute to their defence, in a speech at the American military cemetery in Colleville-sur-mer in Normandy. He was however conspicuously set to skip the main international ceremony marking the anniversary of the landings,..

What do I do with my savings?

I will probably be moving out soon and expect to need around €5-10k for furnishing the apartment, deposit etc. This would give me around €20,000 in my account, which is currently only there (Sparkasse). What would be the most sensible way for me to invest or use this money so that I would still have quick access to it if needed? The more detailed the better please, apart from capital-forming benefits & a few thousand euros in daily allowance, I've never had anything

Is it worth saving money if you need care?

Unfortunately, I have a chronic illness that is gradually destroying my central nervous system. Even though I'm doing great today, it would be naive to think that I'll be able to work until I retire. It is also not unlikely that I will need care sooner or later. Now I heard from several places that care is really expensive and that the care insurance only pays when you no longer have any money. A friend's father had a house and a good sum of money

Breakthrough in the EU Parliament: Agreement on a compromise for the digital euro

The negotiators of the EU Economic Committee have cleared the way for the digital euro. These are the key points: Offline mode: Payments should also be possible without the Internet in close proximity (e.g. via NFC at the checkout or from smartphone to smartphone). Strong data protection: Thanks to Privacy by Design, no central transaction data is generated when paying offline - the principle is intended to imitate the anonymity of cash. Fee protection: Offline payments are free. For dealers (esp

Chinese memory makers step up challenge to Korea’s chip champions

This article was first published by The Korea Times in a partnership with the South China Morning Post. Two of China’s leading memory-chip makers are moving closer to public listings, posing a significant long-term challenge to South Korean giants Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, despite a limited immediate threat, according to analysts. ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), China’s leading dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) producer, won approval last week for its nearly 30-billion-yuan...

I went through the AVGO transcript line by line. Here's what I actually found.

AVGO dropped 15% this week on an earnings "miss." I want to walk through what the transcript actually says because the market reaction and the business reality are completely disconnected. Hock Tan confirmed orders are visible to 2028 right now. Not 2026. Not 2027. 2028. A 1 gigawatt XPU plus networking order has already been received. OpenAI goes into production on custom silicon late 2026. META's custom AI program ramps H2 2027. Management said on the call: "demand for networking is simply ins

What if retail decided not to participate in SpaceX IPO and provide exit liquidity for SpaceX insiders

We all see the writing on the walls whether it's the rule changes, tiny float or shorter lockup periods it's obviously how things are conveniently being manipulated to make it so retail ends up holding the bag. Well what if we didn't take the bait and just invested in everything but SpaceX. We know institutions will have to buy post fast track but chances are some will need to close positions to make room for their spacex purchase. If retail collectively sat this IPO and the buying pressure flat

If you suddenly received $100,000 today, would you invest it all at once or spread it out over time?

I recently found myself thinking about a scenario that comes up surprisingly often. Someone receives a large inheritance, sells a property, exits a business, or simply accumulates a significant amount of cash and suddenly has a six-figure sum sitting in their account. The data generally suggests that investing a lump sum immediately tends to outperform dollar-cost averaging over long periods because markets spend more time going up than down. At the same time, the psychological side of investing

The Next Big AI Trade May Be in Drug Discovery

Sanofi just signed a new multi-year AI drug discovery deal with Owkin. The goal: Build AI-powered “biopharma agents” that can support drug discovery and development from early research through clinical trials. This is not an isolated deal. In 2026 alone: Sanofi partnered deeper with Owkin for AI drug discovery. Bristol Myers Squibb signed with Anthropic to roll out Claude across research, clinical development, manufacturing, commercial, and corporate teams. Gilead expanded its deal with Tempus A

Is bunq legit for daily banking and investing?

I'm confused about this neo bank. One one hand, they're properly regulated by the ECB and more or less popular here in Europe. But even on surface, there are some negative reviews and reported issues. At the end of the day, is it legit or not? I want to use it for my daily banking, along with trying something lighter for investing in stocks and ETFs. If you have any banking xp with them, please share. I'll highly appreciate this. submitted by /u/grow_gred [link] [comments]
