ETF’s VS. individual stocks

Buy VOO and touch grass yes! Totally get it…… DCA is a great investment strategy, but does it really outperform choosing the right stocks year after year? How do I balance my long term and my short term stock picking? At this point, put majority of my money into index’s and choose a couple stocks on the side? Need advice on my portfolio….
