Buy an electric car to save money?

I'm currently considering swapping my VW Polo for a simple electric car. Normally I am of the opinion that from a financial perspective you should drive a car for as long as possible. But the fuel prices, even after they have gone down, still make a difference and with the change in the CO2 price 28 the future doesn't look any better here. I drive around 18,000 km a year. My commute to work is 25 km. I'm a tenant, but I think my landlord would be in favor of a wallbox
