Ratio between rent and salary in Munich

I'm not sure if this is the right sub, but my dream would be to live in the Munich area. After my studies next year, this might be an option. Financially, that would actually be possible, but I'm still unsure whether it's worth spending so much money on a reasonably nice apartment (or still spending a lot of money on a storage room). What I was wondering, though, is how does the salary compare to the cost of rent? Are the salaries in Munich (and the surrounding area) the same?
