Male, 49, looking to FIRE in around five years. General thoughts on small caps in my situation

I currently hold almost no small caps; given my age, does it even make much sense to add now a significant amount in AVWS over VWCE/WEBN? I always read that the time horizon for Small caps should be at least 20 years.
