How do you find the balance between making provisions for old age and living life?

To be honest, I'm just scared of what it'll be like when I get older. I'm 24 now, I've already built up good savings, and luckily my parents have taken out private pension insurance for me since I was born. I myself am saving 50% of my salary for the future. Sometimes I just wonder how much sense that makes. At the end of the day, none of us can know whether we will even reach retirement age or whether we will drop dead before then.
