The FBI said on Wednesday that it seized more than a dozen internet domains used by Chinese intelligence services to gain personal information in hopes of fooling, conscripting or blackmailing Americans with security clearances into divulging sensitive information. “The fake consulting company domains seized by the FBI illustrate the lengths the Chinese government’s intelligence services will go to as they try to use AI-generated content to trick, recruit, or coerce current and former US...

Very likely the bloodbath in the market today is because of SPACEX!

I am kind of thinking the bloodbath we saw today in the market is because of SpaceX IPO. I doubt the war between Iran vs the US/Israel allies has impact though not entirely. But the SpaceX IPO to me, is the elephant in the room. Folks might be gearing up for it by selling off their portfolios even at a loss because its Elon in the market! Who wouldn't want to buy Elon? The only antidote, I would think, is for other sectors to hike their share prices to ground investers especailly retailers, to s

Possible Move from the US, Looking to Learn

Hello Everyone, Apologies in advance if this post breaks any of the rules of the subreddit, please let me know if changes need to be made. I'll start with some context before asking my questions: I'm an Italian citizen (29M) that came to live to the U.S when I was around 15, because of my parent's work. Fast forwarding to about 2 years ago, when I started working as a Software Dev and started putting money in the stock market and my 401k here in the US (I'm not sure what the equivalent is in EU)

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the United States might not renew its free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico and criticised trade deficits with those countries, although he said he was talking with their leaders about the matter. As de-dollarisation trends persist, can the yuan take the euro’s place?

In early April, hours after US President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Iran “back to the Stone Ages” in a prime-time address, China’s yuan-denominated cross-border payment system set a record for transaction volume in a single day. The Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) skyrocketed to 1.22 trillion yuan (US$180.3 billion) on April 2, almost doubling the daily average volume in February. The spike occurred as more oil-producing nations rapidly scaled up their share of yuan settlements

First few sentences: Donald Trump has said he "loves the inflation" facing the US as prices in May rose at their fastest rate in three years. The US president said the "numbers were great" when asked about Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) figures showing prices rose by 4.2% in May from a year earlier. The increase, from 3.8% in April, was largely driven by rising energy costs in the wake of the US Israel war in Iran. Speaking from the White House, Trump said: "I love it. The numbers were great.

The United States ramped up pressure on Iran on Wednesday, with President Donald Trump threatening more strikes and the Treasury Department slapping fresh sanctions on entities that it says “have supported weapons procurement” on behalf of Tehran, including some in China and Hong Kong. “We hit them hard yesterday and we’re going to hit them again hard today,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday. “We’ll see what happens with the deal. We’re really close to a deal but they keep...

Nasa chief defends choice of all-male Artemis III crew

Nasa’s administrator Jared Isaacman on Wednesday defended the make-up of the space agency’s latest Artemis crew, an all-male group. The nominations have earned criticism that Nasa may have acted in accordance with US President Donald Trump’s direction to eliminate diversity and inclusion efforts. Isaacman insisted in a lengthy social media post that the “crew selection does not involve any political appointees”. “The Astronaut Office assigns the crew that gives the mission the best chance of...

How will the Pentagon’s expanded blacklist of Chinese firms affect Xi’s US visit?

The Pentagon’s newly expanded blacklist of Chinese military-linked companies has tested the fragile stability reached at last month’s summit, highlighting that intense competition persists despite recent efforts to ease bilateral tensions. On Monday, the US Defence Department released its updated Section 1260H list as required by American law, expanding the roster to 188 entities, up from 134 last year. Many of China’s technology and industrial giants were targeted. E-commerce giant Alibaba,...
