Trump's Nuclear Loan Program Won't Fix What's Really Broken

Donald Trump is trying to push forward a nuclear power renaissance in the United States as the AI boom presents the country with a major looming energy deficit. The federal government recently announced over $17 billion in federal loans as part of a scheme to encourage investment in revitalizing the nation’s ageing nuclear fleet. The move comes as part of a broader desire on the part of the Trump administration to “produce lasting American dominance in the global nuclear energy market.” However,

AI bubble cracking as big tech renting out AI infrastructure proves they overspent

With not just SpaceX but now also Meta and others renting out their AI data center capacity, it is becoming pretty obvious those companies have all massively overspent on AI capex. I wish those tech companies would go back to innovating again instead of all jumping on the same AI train. Them renting out their AI infrastructure is not some kinda smart business move but more an act of desperation to pump their balance sheets. None of this creates real profits from AI. These are all circular deals

Unitree's 73-day IPO approval and LingBot-Vision going Apache-2.0 in the same fortnight: two numbers I can't square

I spent the last couple weeks tracking the China robotics pipeline and two events in basically the same fortnight have been bouncing off each other in my head. On July 3, Unitree got final CSRC registration for its STAR Market IPO at roughly $618 million, filed March 20, cleared in a record 73 days. That clears it to become China's first listed pure-play humanoid company. The hardware side has been accelerating hard. AgiBot hit its 10,000th mass-produced robot on March 30, going from 5,000 to 10

besides myself, is anyone else concerned that micron is now considered a value play?

VTV's largest holding is now micron, MU - all because one of it's heaviest factors is the Forward Price-to-Earnings (Forward P/E) ratio. Over the last year, Micron's stock price skyrocketed due to the massive demand for its AI-linked high-bandwidth memory chips. Normally, a massive price spike pushes a stock straight into the "Growth" category. However, Wall Street analysts (realized a cheat code) increased Micron's projected future earnings even faster than the stock price rose. Because its exp

Hong Kong should build AI plan around ‘competitive’ strengths, industry leaders say

Hong Kong should draft a five-year plan that includes an artificial intelligence (AI) focus that is not too broad, makes the most of its core strengths and attracts the best talent to develop the sector, industry leaders have said. At the South China Morning Post’s China Conference on Tuesday, titled “Intelligence at Scale: Hong Kong’s AI-Powered Future”, speakers at two panel discussions considered how Hong Kong could deliver on its AI aspirations and the city’s readiness as a launch pad for...

Huawei’s new computing cluster, world’s first AI agent phone to debut at China AI summit

The coming World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) is set to feature major new product releases, such as Huawei Technologies’ next-generation computing cluster, as China doubles down on AI in the global technology race. This year’s WAIC, the ninth since 2018 and running from July 17 to 20 in Shanghai, would include the first physical display of Huawei’s Atlas 950 SuperPoD, Tang Wenkan, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatisation, said at a press briefing.

Getting rid of NVDA or AVGO (Broadcom)?

Hi everyone, I'm holding both NVDA and AVGO stock and am looking to derisk given the uncertainty/possibility of an AI bubble bursting and the fact that I'm holding multiple AI-focused stocks at once. If you had to get rid of one stock to derisk and reinvest elsewhere (most likely a safer ETF), which would you sell today? NVDA or AVGO? Curious to hear your thoughts! Not necessarily investing advice but more your moves. submitted by /u/Sensitive-Avocado972 [link] [comments]

Zhipu AI, MiniMax shares to provide gut check for Hong Kong investors as lock-ups end

Hong Kong’s stock market could face sell-off pressure amid a torrent of new share supply in coming days as the six-month lock-up period ends for hot artificial intelligence and semiconductor picks including Zhipu AI and MiniMax. Meanwhile analysts warned of rising fears of a drain on liquidity as many of the same companies were eyeing large secondary share placements. The market was facing dual selling pressure, said Stevan Tam, associate director at Fulbright Financial. “These stocks have...

Kuaishou shares tumble as Tencent slashes stake after US$3b Kling AI deal

Shares of Kuaishou Technology fell more than 6 per cent on Tuesday morning after Tencent Holdings slashed its stake in the short-video platform by selling 273 million Class B shares, just days after leading a US$3 billion financing round for Kuaishou’s artificial intelligence video unit, Kling AI. The divestment will reduce Tencent’s shareholding in Kuaishou to 9.37 per cent from 15.68 per cent, meaning the tech giant would cease to be a substantial shareholder, according to a Kuaishou filing to

AI is useful, but who actually captures the profit?

A lot of AI discussions seem to mix two different questions together. One question is whether AI is useful. I think the answer is clearly yes in some areas: coding, document work, customer support, data analysis, medical imaging, internal workflows, etc. But the investment question feels harder: who actually captures the long-term profit from that usefulness? Is it the chip companies, cloud providers, software companies, power/infrastructure players, or the normal businesses that use AI to cut c

Singapore’s Carousell hits profitability milestone, banks on AI as ‘force multiplier’

At Carousell’s Singapore office, a red tunnel greets employees with the company’s mission to “make second-hand the first choice” – a slogan its leaders say is moving closer to reality as the platform for buying and selling used goods recorded its first positive adjusted operating profit. The Singapore-headquartered company, last valued at US$1.1 billion in 2021, said on Tuesday it had achieved positive Ebitda – earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation – for the first time,.
