Oil just surged after CENTCOM struck Iran, is anyone actually positioned for this or did everyone get washed out on the dip?

Vance's comments on May 28 fueled optimism around a potential US-Iran deal, helping push oil lower as traders priced in de-escalation and a possible reopening of Hormuz. But renewed military action and uncertainty around negotiations have since reversed part of that move. Brent is back around $95 and WTI near $92 after a sharp rebound from last week's lows. The market keeps swinging between "deal incoming" and "conflict escalating" narratives, and that uncertainty is now driving oil more than fu

China steps up Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s drug push, looks to TCM

To head off a public health crisis, China is stepping up efforts to find new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. As its population ages, the country already has more cases of these neurodegenerative diseases than anywhere else in the world and their prevalence is rising faster than the global average. Cases of Parkinson’s disease in China are forecast to rise from 3.6 million in 2024 to 10.5 million in 2050, while the number of people in China with dementia is projected..

Is dividend investing really NOT "free money"?

I am looking to buy shares of dividend paying companies. I have seen many articles, videos and others. Mentioning that dividends are "not free money". I understand that the share price falls on/after the ex dividend date by the amount of the dividend. However isn't this applicable only to people who buy shares just before the ex dividend date and sell them a little later? How does this affect long term holders, that also get capital gains from the stock? submitted by /u/ADG_98 [link] [comments]

Education authorities say sorry after parents get school allocation messages early

Hong Kong education authorities have apologised after parents received SMS notifications of their children’s primary school allocations a day ahead of the official announcement, stressing that the results to be released on Wednesday should be treated as final. Some parents were left confused on Tuesday following text messages that listed the correct school choices but the wrong calendar year. The Education Bureau’s hotline was inundated with calls from parents seeking clarification. The bureau..

Why oil-hungry Asia ignores risks linked to Russia’s ‘dark fleet’

Asia’s fuel needs may take priority over the strategic risks of relying on oil from heavily sanctioned Russia, according to experts. Currently, there is little political appetite to treat the surge of Moscow’s crude flowing eastward through a “dark fleet” of tankers as a potential security issue. The US-Israeli war on Iran has caused the price of Brent crude – the benchmark measure – to spike to above US$100 since March, although talks with Washington have seen the price soften in recent days to

hi everyone i've been thinking about diversifying a some portion of my long-term savings into physical gold as a store of value while researching, i came across historical gold coins such as sovereigns, vreneli, napoleon 20 francs, and similar european coins what caught my attention is that some of them seem to have two potential sources of value - the gold itself - a collector premium that may increase over time i'm not talking about extremely rare museum pieces worth tens of thousands of euros

Asia’s ‘NewSpace’ economy is about more than just exploration

For decades, Asia’s ambitions in outer space were closely associated with scientific discovery, technological prestige and national symbolism. Space programmes were designed to demonstrate engineering capability, economic modernisation and geopolitical influence. Today, outer space is undergoing a deeper transformation. It is no longer viewed merely as a frontier for exploration; increasingly, it is seen as a strategic domain tied to sovereignty, economic security and geopolitical...

Taiwan targets Beijing’s grey-zone tactics near remote South China Sea islands

Taiwan’s navy will support patrols around the Taipei-controlled Dongsha Islands after mainland Chinese coastguard activity near the South China Sea atoll surged over the past year. The activity has fuelled concerns in Taipei that Beijing is using the remote outpost to test Taiwan’s responses and refine its grey-zone tactics. Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration said mainland Chinese coastguard vessels had appeared around the atoll 39 times since February last year, compared with only occasional..

Hong Kong leader’s visit set to unlock Kazakh flights, with incentives eyed

A lack of direct flights has been a bugbear to Hong Kong and Kazakhstan forging closer ties but with the city’s leader now in Astana and hints of incentives on the table, hopes are rising for a breakthrough. The Pentagon Is Too Fixated on China

It’s unclear where the instinct to focus on China at the expense of the rest of the world comes from. Perhaps it’s a nostalgia for the Cold War, when every global conflict, crisis, and hot spot could be understood through the prism of the Soviet–American competition (even though that interpretation was often misleading and led to catastrophic misunderstandings and policy mistakes). Perhaps it’s a reaction to a sense of American power weakening—in which case it’s a prescription that will only acc
