Credit card for higher expenses?

Hi! Quick question, since you're probably most familiar with it - when it comes to recurring higher expenses (car/motorcycle/racing bike/Rolex), which credit cards do you use? So far I have mostly avoided “pre-loading via bank transfer”, but especially during a typical visit to a jewelry store abroad it is annoying to have to wait 24 hours just because of a €15k expense. I've heard that many people use AmEx for this because it offers high limits. However, in my opinion there is a lack of acceptance

China says US ‘invented’ terrorism charges to justify Cuba blockade

China accused the United States of using “invented allegations” to justify its terrorism case against Cuba, after Secretary of State Marco Rubio told senators he needed no new evidence to tie the island to violent leftist groups across the western hemisphere. Foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Thursday that Washington could not justify its blockade and sanctions against the island, adding that the decades-old embargo had wrecked Cuba’s economy. “China firmly supports Cuba in...

Trump Jnr tells investors he would avoid investing in China

US President Donald Trump’s eldest son warned against investing in China during an event for investors on Thursday in Zurich, even as his father’s administration has pushed forward on plans to improve commercial ties between the two countries. “I wouldn’t,” Donald Trump Jnr said when asked at the invitation-only event if he would invest in China. “I don’t think we can pretend they’re an ally. That would be, I think, foolish.” Trump Jnr, who shares the position of executive vice-president of the.

S&P500 Index Committee to NOT Change Rules Regarding Megacaps

S&P Dow Jones Indices and the index committee that determines the rules for how companies get added to the S&P500 determined that no changes would be made to their rules for the "seasoning period", after which companies can be added to the index. This is significant as many other major index providers have recently changed their rules regarding megacap stocks in light of the upcoming SpaceX IPO. A UK in decline needs to rediscover supply-side economics

I just spent two weeks in a broken Britain, which is an unfortunately apt description for a country that has fallen from its former glory. Its people are funny, witty, creative, intelligent, sports-mad and educated, part of a society that has constantly evolved over the last millennium, its imperial heritage bringing in cultures from around the globe. It is a green and pleasant land, beautiful in spring and summer, and not too bad in the autumn. Yet the once great nation is now dealing with a...

US farm chief says reliance on China threatens American ‘freedom’

US Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins told lawmakers on Thursday that American dependence on China for food, fertiliser and other agricultural inputs poses an “existential” threat, framing food security as a national security issue while defending the White House’s reduced fiscal 2027 budget request. “If we need to rely on China for our food and our fertiliser and all the things that come with that, we will lose what we understand to be liberty and freedom in this country. That’s how important

Brazil Launches World-First Ethanol-Powered Grid Engine

Brazil is undertaking a major biofuels experiment that could be majorly disruptive for the global energy landscape if it proves effective. The South American country is filthy rich in biomass, and is seeking to use ethanol in novel applications – in this case, to power the energy grid. A new ethanol-powered engine designed specifically to provide electricity to the grid was just launched at the Suape II power plant in Pernambuco, in a world first. Brazilian energy company Suape Energia has partn

Why nobody talks about this?

Im not sure which subreddit to post this in... If I'm looking to buy real estate, let's say a property cost 400k. I get a 30yr loan at 6%. the real price of the home is closer to 850k. You paid 450k in intrest for a 400k home(400+450=850). lets assume you sell the house for 600k. did you profit 200k or did you loose 250k? Maybe if you get someone else to pay the rent for you over 30 years it "feels" diffrerent but the math is the same. I somewhat understand that with inflation and leverage it ca
