Degussa gold savings plan

I saw that Degussa offers a gold savings plan and was wondering if anyone here has had experience with it. The principle is probably like this: You save a chosen amount each month for a certain amount of gold (e.g. 1 oz). As soon as the corresponding value has been reached, you can have the gold physically delivered or continue to be kept in safe custody. As far as I understand it, 0.5% custody fees are charged during the savings phase. Does anyone here have this?

Asia’s marine pledges face credibility test at global ocean conference

Asia’s governments have spent years promising to protect the seas that feed their people, shelter their coasts and support some of the world’s richest marine life. World Ocean Day on Monday will put those promises back in the public spotlight, but the more consequential test will come days later in Mombasa, Kenya, where governments, donors, companies and conservation groups will gather for the 11th annual Our Ocean Conference from June 16 to 18. The conference has become a key stage for global..

Chinese EVs reclaim momentum as tech upgrades, incentives squeeze gains of foreign marques

International marques have failed to sustain the market share they regained in China early this year after consumers fell back in love with electric vehicles (EVs), a sector where domestic brands continue to enjoy an overwhelming advantage. Foreign carmakers from Volkswagen to Toyota held a combined 30.3 per cent share of the Chinese automotive market in April, with about 418,140 vehicles handed to local customers, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). In the first..

Huawei chips refine DeepSeek model in major leap for China’s AI self-reliance

A research team that includes Huawei Technologies says it has successfully used the firm’s Ascend 910C chips to complete post-training for the DeepSeek-V4-Pro model, marking a major step forward as China’s semiconductor industry tries to leap from supporting basic AI inference to more complex model training amid tightening US sanctions. While Chinese chipmakers have found success in supporting AI inference – the relatively simple process of running an already-finished model to answer user...

US Senate passes US$70 billion ICE funding; fails to ban ‘anti-weaponisation’ fund

The US Senate handed President Donald Trump a victory early on Friday morning, passing a bill that would provide the Department of Homeland Security with an additional US$70 billion for immigration enforcement and sending it to the House of Representatives for final consideration. The Senate voted 52-47 to approve the legislation, with no support from Democrats and no provision to ban a US$1.8 billion “anti-weaponisation” fund that could compensate Trump’s political allies for allegations that.

Ideas for satellites at ~70% FTSE All World

I'll soon start my first job as a trainee and will also earn my first big money with it. I have been investing around €40 per month for over a year (€30 in the FTSE, €5 in silver and €5 in gold) and now I would like to increase the savings rate. I plan to invest 700 euros, where I'm thinking of continuing to put 500 euros into the holy FTSE as core and then investing 200 euros as satellites to have money for medium-term goals. I'm sure about the precious metals

EU Says No Jet Fuel Shortage Coming Despite Middle East Supply Loss

Shortages of jet fuel are not looming over Europe despite the shock loss of supply from the Middle East and soaring prices, according to EU Sustainable Transport and Tourism Commissioner, Apostolos Tzitzikostas. “There is currently no jet fuel shortage in Europe. We have no signs that we will have a shortage in the coming period,” Tzitzikostas told Reuters in an interview published on Friday. Philippines’ UN defeat: a result of domestic ‘political circus’, close ties with US?

The Philippines’ landslide defeat to Kyrgyzstan for a UN Security Council seat has dealt a blow to Manila’s long-running campaign to raise its international diplomatic profile through the prestigious body, prompting questions about President Ferdinand Marcos Jnr’s foreign policy legacy. Analysts said the loss reflected the appeal of having under-represented Central Asia play a role in the council, Kyrgyzstan’s perceived neutrality and the geopolitical baggage attached to the Philippines as a...
