Thoughts on my USOY position? I've had some success, but should I continue?

I have some USOY on the Roth 401K side of my portfolio. With the recent "memorandum of understanding" between the US and Iran announced yesterday/this morning, I expect oil prices will drop, so I'm thinking of buying more. I've had some success with this approach since the Strait of Hormuz was shut down: wait for the announcement of a "deal," buy USOY after it drops, then wait for oil prices to recover and sell. Just curious about people's thoughts on this strategy, as I'm wondering if I may be

2 tourists killed by unknown assailant in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, police say

Security was tightened in South Africa’s Kruger National Park nature reserve after two tourists were found killed there, authorities said on Sunday. The two South African victims, a 71-year-old man and a woman whose age was not disclosed, failed to return to their lodge on Wednesday evening, prompting a search operation. Other tourists eventually found them in a river on Friday afternoon. Police said the man had stab wounds and the woman’s body was bruised. Their car was missing. South Africa...

What’s the best book you’ve found for genuinely improving probabilistic thinking?

One thing I’ve noticed after doing a lot of quant prep is that there’s a huge difference between books that teach tricks and books that genuinely improve the way you think. For me, Quantitative Finance Interview Prep Guide by Mikhail Zaitsev (who’s a Jane Street quant) was one of the rare books in the second category. The problems are hard in a very “clean” way, they force you to build intuition for probability and combinatorics instead of pattern-matching formulas. Ironically, despite the title

Ukraine demands emergency Security Council meeting over Russia strikes

Ukraine is calling for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council and a gathering of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) following massive Russian air strikes, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Sunday. In a statement published on social media, Sybiha also called for an “appropriate and strong response to the aggressor” following the overnight attacks, which mainly targeted the Kyiv region and saw the deployment of a medium-range Oreshnik ballistic.

Was verdienen Handwerker (Elektriker, SHK) „nebenbei“ und selbständig wirklich?

Israeli fire kills parents and their baby in Gaza refugee camp, officials say

An Israeli air strike on a flat in a refugee camp in central Gaza on Sunday left three people dead, including a six-month-old child, health officials said. Medical workers named the three who died in the Nuseirat refugee camp as Mohammad Abu Mallouh, the infant’s father, Alaa Zaqlan, the mother, and their child, Osama. Buying direct pre-IPO shares through Hiive: how do escrow, settlement, and ownership verification work?

Hi everyone, I’m trying to better understand how platforms like Hiive work for buying shares of private companies before an IPO, especially when the buyer is looking for direct shares rather than exposure through an SPV, fund, forward contract, or other indirect structure. I’m not asking for personal financial advice, but more for general insight from people who have experience with private secondary transactions. A few questions: Due diligence by the platform How much verification does Hiive ty

Australia’s LNG Industry Warns Policy Uncertainty Is Hurting Investment

Australia’s energy producers are calling for state and federal support in faster approvals of new projects and fiscal stability. These could help the world’s third-biggest LNG exporter grow its overseas markets amid the expected years-long turmoil in the global gas market in the wake of the Iran war. Producers want long-term predictability in taxation, as well as faster permitting processes and environmental reviews from the state and federal governments. As a whole, the industry seeks clarity a

China merges lunar programmes as race to moon with US heats up after latest SpaceX launch

As the race to send humans back to the moon heats up, China has been fine-tuning its plans. How to redeem Stockpile unused gift card: company now closed

I received a gift card from Stockpile for Christmas. The company has now closed and I can’t figure out redeem the gift card. Immediately after Christmas they paused new account creation. I was unaware they were closing and apparently waited too long. I have contacted Public and Stash. Neither will honor the gift card. The gifter contacted their bank and the claim denied. Does anyone have any ideas how to redeem it? submitted by /u/ThreeAndDone20 [link] [comments]

How much will the SpaceX scam affect my etf?

I have an ETF that follows the MSCI World UCITS ETF. I asked google how the SpaceX scam will affect my etf, and this is what I got: SpaceX will likely be added to the MSCI World index following its initial public offering (IPO). However, the Weighting Will Likely Be Small: Even though SpaceX is estimated to reach a multi-trillion-dollar valuation, its impact on broad index funds will be heavily mitigated by its "free float" (the percentage of shares actually available for public trading). If the

Arrived alternative option

Arrived to me seems like lending club. High fee alternative. While educational to try, probably not worth long term massive exposure. I was looking for a good residential REIT alternative. I do have some of MORT but looking for more traditional reit. Ideally, I was looking for some cash flow plus capital appreciation. Obviously no leveraged appreciation like a home loan. I was thinking of MAA stock. Dividend appreciation, down a good amount (down 25% in the last 2 yrs, down 40% in last 5 yrs). W
