US law enforcement on Tuesday said it had foiled a plot to attack the White House during a crowded mixed martial arts event attended by President Donald Trump and other top officials. “Thanks to the rapid action of the FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, multiple individuals are now in custody and allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold,” FBI Director Kash Patel announced on social media. His post included a caption of a Fox News headline reading:...

RIVN vs GOOG? If you had to choose, which would you invest in at current pricing?

I’ve had good 100%+ gains on my GOOG gains this past year. I’m also an adamant believer in Rivian growth, with their new R2 release. Based on today’s pricing and market conditions would you maintain existing GOOG position, or move it to Rivian at current low pricing? Note, I currently have a good size position in RIVN, but wanted to make it bigger. My thinking is that GOOG already dry represents ~6% of S&P500 index ETF, so I have a good level of exposure to it through my ETFs alone… thoughts? su

Care costs, how much would a child have to pay?

Hi, Since the topic of parental care costs has just come up: how much would an unmarried only child without children of their own have to pay? We currently still have the limit of 100,000 euros, roughly 4700 euros net per month. The private additional payment for care is on average 3,500 euros. How much does the child have to pay? Probably (hopefully) not. There would only be 1200 euros left to live on. What is the current deductible? submitted by /u/I3luemchen [link] [comme

Australian LNG Strike Threatens Global Gas Supply as Qatar Recovery Lags

The ongoing strike action at Australian LNG facilities of Inpex is expected to disrupt operations significantly, a senior official at the Japanese energy firm told Bloomberg on Tuesday. Iran war ‘stark wake-up call’ for fossil fuel-dependent Southeast Asia: IEA report

The Iran war has exposed major risks for Southeast Asia that could cost the region billions of dollars, if it does not diversify sources of energy more quickly, according to an International Energy Agency (IEA) report released on Tuesday. An overreliance on oil and gas transported through the Strait of Hormuz left the region particularly vulnerable to shocks from the Iran war, a “stark wake-up call” for its energy security, the report says. It notes that rising sales of electric vehicles, a...

I want to get into cryptocurrency, but my account won’t allow me to purchase crypto directly or through a spot ETF.

So I have a Fidelity custodial account, and I really want to get into cryptocurrency, but my account won’t allow me to purchase crypto directly or through a spot ETF. So that leaves me with the option to after a company like Coinbase or Microstrategy. I’m concerned about microstrategy because I’m concerned about Bitcoin with their lack of quantum resistance, but I feel like they could still come back up at least one more time? And obviously if Bitcoin goes quantum resistant, then that risk is no

Fee-only, conflicts and bizarre allocations

What are the conflicts of interest for fee-only advisors? I just started working at a company that sits at an intersection with the financial industry, and I'm trying to get a better understanding of how this works, because a lot of clients have a relationship with these advisors (fee-only). I've already read in the literature that they tend to be more conservative and go for assets that don't fluctuate much, because the firm's cash flow is proportional to the client's AUM. In other words, it'
