Roth conversion vs rolling into solo 401k

Hi all, After I left my last job I moved my 401k to Fidelity and it became a rollover IRA. My income is now higher and I want to start doing a backdoor IRA but I can’t do this while I have the rollover IRA. It seems like my two options are either to do a Roth conversion which merges the rollover IRA into my Roth IRA. Or I can open up a solo 401k and roll the rollover IRA into that. Does it matter which option I choose? submitted by /u/GooseRage [link] [comments]

Poland Moves To Tax Fuel Windfalls Earned During Iran War

Poland’s government has approved a one-off windfall tax on fuel companies that benefited from soaring energy prices during the U.S.-Iran-Israel war, seeking to recover part of the billions spent protecting consumers from higher fuel costs. The proposed levy would impose a 60% tax on excess profits generated between March and December 2026, during the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The Polish Finance Ministry estimates the measure will raise around 4 billion zloty (~$1.1 billion). Under the pro

Lebanon peace talks with Israel ‘independent’ of US-Iran deal: Aoun

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Wednesday that his country’s negotiations with Israel in Washington were independent of the US-Iran deal to bring an end to the Middle East conflict. Lebanon and Israel have been holding direct talks in Washington since April, seeking to end the hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah and separate their conflict from the wider regional war. But the announcement on Monday of the US-Iran deal, which Iran and mediator Pakistan say includes Lebanon, has...

Some new wind turbines are being built in our area. Jointly by the municipal utilities and BMR energy Solutions GmbH. As residents, we could purchase a savings bond between EUR 1-10k with 3.4% pa over 10 years. I haven't seen any details yet, only the information that it is a public participation process with national deposit insurance and therefore no risk. You can get further details from a consultation at the savings bank (bah...) Before I do that to myself, I wanted to

Can China-US breadbasket diplomacy sidestep tension over American’s arrest?

Officials from key US farm-belt states joined their Chinese provincial counterparts on Tuesday in a cooperation dialogue, the latest pivot towards closer engagement following President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing and ahead of the critical US midterm elections. The major subnational dialogue – co-hosted by the Henan provincial government in central China and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries – took place under a cloud, with the US State Department issuing.

Trump Signals Renewed Focus on Ukraine After Iran Deal Breakthrough

US President Donald Trump held a "very good meeting" with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at the G7 summit in France, he told journalists on June 16, adding that "Russia should make a deal" while hinting that Europe's largest conflict since World War II might be moving up his priority list. US efforts to broker peace in the conflict that has raged since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 have largely stalled in recent months, particularly since US and Israeli air str
