Why do some mutual funds have 200+ positions?

I've been looking at some Long/Short Mutual Fund exposure (mostly for knowledge building) and I've noticed many mutual funds where they have 200+ positions (this example has 251 long positions and 170 short which too me just sounds absurd). Is this an effort to mimic the benchmark exposure but at a smaller scale? I can't imagine a small team can conduct fee-worthy research with a direct investable universe of 350+ stocks... submitted by /u/Minute-Buffalo-6678 [link] [comments]

US State Department green lights possible sale of Hellfire missiles to Singapore

The US State Department has backed a potential sale of AGM-114R Hellfire missiles to Singapore, valued at US$22.3 million, in a deal it said would strengthen the city state’s defences, a key US strategic partner in Asia. The department on Tuesday said the sale would include 67 Hellfire missiles – a type of precision-guided, air-to-ground missile – as well as spare parts and support equipment. Lockheed Martin will be the principal contractor. “This proposed sale will support the foreign policy...

Quick Recap of June Markets and News

NOT AI b/c the auto mod thinks it is :( U.S. stocks ended June 2026 slightly lower, influenced by a stabilizing Middle East, with peace proposals being advanced among major powers, including Israel, the United States, and Iran, to open the Strait of Hormuz and end hostilities. New Federal Reserve chair Kevin Warsh presided over his first FOMC meeting, where the committee kept rates flat but hinted toward interest hikes later in the year. The S&P 500 lost 1.06% and is now up over 9% year-to-date.

Why a Supply Crunch From Iran Could Send Oil Back Below $40 a Barrel

There have recently been many warnings about near-term oil shortages stemming from the conflict in Iran. Most analysts assume that shortages mean higher prices. As I will explain, the dynamics of a self-organizing economy suggest the opposite outcome — lower prices, deepening recession, and shortages of goods and services that have little to do with price. A cartoon scene featuring a bluebird on a cliff, looking confidently at a surprised coyote who is about to fall off the edge, with a yellow s

US Crude Oil Inventories Keep Falling As Hormuz Flows Slow To Start

The American Petroleum Institute (API) estimated that crude oil inventories in the United States fell by 6.072 million barrels in the week ending June 26. In the week prior, US crude oil inventories fell by 765,000 barrels. Although commercial crude oil inventories excluding the SPR have been falling rapidly for more than two months, shedding 59.4 million barrels over the last eleven weeks, US crude inventories are only down 8 million barrels so far this year, according to API data, kept in chec

Tax regulation on distributing TMEs in Belgium

If I understand it correctly, distributing target maturity corporate bond funds like IB26, IB27, ... are taxed 30% on the quarterly payouts and then 30% again on the capital gains when they automatically liquidate at the maturity date. If someone in Belgium were to opt for a TME ladder for the bond part of their portfolio, why would they go for the distributing versions of the fund? submitted by /u/Your_Bank [link] [comments]

US expected to exit USMCA, starting a decade-long countdown for trade pact

US President Donald Trump’s administration is expected to formally declare on Wednesday that it will not extend the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement on trade, starting a decade-long clock to wind down the 32-year-old North American free-trade zone as the three countries haggle over proposed changes. That declaration will kick off a six-year review session, part of a “sunset clause” negotiated by Trump’s first administration. However, it will do little to alter contentious negotiations over the pact’s.

Earn money outside of work?

Hello my frugal friends. Since I'm currently looking for a new car and I noticed that I definitely don't have enough money for the used car market these days, I thought about how I could increase my income. I work around 50 hours a week for €60,000 gross per year (38 hours a week and around 24 hours as a surgical nurse (of which only one hour is counted as working time and only on weekends, really crazy)). Do you have any ideas what else to do?

30M and finally debt-free! Trying to figure out investing now

I spent most of my 20s cleaning up old mistakes, like student loans, credit card debt, and a car I really couldn’t afford. I just paid off the last dollar of debt last month, which feels great, but now I’m realizing I don’t actually know what to do next. Current situation: Income: $68k/year Savings: $14k, about 4 months of expenses Monthly surplus: around $900 after bills 401k: 4% right now, just enough for the employer match Roth IRA: never opened one My rough plan: Open a Roth IRA this week an
