ECB: Iran Peace Deal Won't Erase Europe's Energy Price Shock

Europe will have to contend with the energy price shock for months despite the tentative U.S.-Iran agreement to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, European Central Bank (ECB) officials said this week. The ECB last week raised key interest rates for the euro area for the first time since 2023 as the Middle East conflict hiked energy prices that have started to feed into core inflation. The ECB raised the key interest rate by 25 basis points to 2.25%, its first hike since 2023. Eurozone

Loan approved for property - but purchase price reduced

Hello everyone, I would like to buy a single-family home and the notary appointment is coming up soon. Now the purchase price has reduced by €10,000 or almost 2% of the house value. Renegotiating the loan would mean significantly worse loan terms. So there are the options: 1. Get €10,000 less loan from the bank 2. Use €10,000 less equity, but get the full loan. My credit broker is for option 2. So use the full credit and just 10k less

Hi everyone, I am building a long-term investment portfolio with Irish-domiciled ETFs. My current portfolio allocation is: VWRA: 46.4% VUAA: 35.4% CSNDX: 18.2% I know there is some overlap because VWRA already includes US stocks, while VUAA gives more S&P 500 exposure and CSNDX gives more Nasdaq/tech exposure. I am planning to add around 30% more money to my total portfolio. How would you suggest I invest the new amount? Should I keep adding to VWRA, VUAA, and CSNDX, or should I add another Iris

Geopolitics is complicating the green transition – and China’s moment

The recent escalation in the Middle East has produced an unforeseen winner. The conflict has rekindled worries about logistics and energy security, prompting governments and businesses to reconsider their reliance on fossil fuels and fragile supply routes. This has sped up the move towards renewable energy. And the principal beneficiary of this shift is China. The strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz is well understood. Roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil trade passes through this...

How to best replenish emergency fund?

Hi all, I have an emergency fund of around 30k (6 times my monthly income) but will need to use 3 to 4K for necessary expenses on the roof of my property. At the moment, I save monthly about 200€ in my emergency fund, 200€ for travels and I invest 500€ monthly in an ETF. What would be the most efficient way to replenish the emergency fund? Do I prioritise it and stop investing until it is back at 30k? Do I make a split? I don’t have much room to save/invest more atm because of a big mortgage… In
