India’s strategic and commercial crude oil inventories have jumped to a nearly one-year high as the world’s third-largest crude oil buyer boosted its imports to a record high in June. As at the end of June, India’s crude oil stocks held in strategic, commercial, and refinery storage had increased to 104 million barrels, up from 90.5 million barrels at the end of April, according to data from commodity intelligence provider Kpler cited by Indian outlet Economic Times. Hong Kong is positioning itself as a middleman in the fast-growing global space economy, senior officials and experts have said, noting the city can turn its financial markets, common law system and dispute-resolution capabilities into a commercial advantage. At the 2026 Colloquium on International Law on Friday, Secretary for Justice Paul Lam Ting-kwok said Hong Kong’s “sharpest competitive edge” lay in professional services for commercial space. Citi: Oil Could Sink to $60 as Hormuz Traffic Normalizes

Brent Crude prices could plunge to as low as $60 per barrel by the end of the year, says Citigroup, which expects flows through the Strait of Hormuz to soon normalize and the U.S. and Iran to reach a deal in the coming months. “We continue to recommend selling any summer rallies and forecast Brent reaching $60 to $65 a barrel by the turn of the year,” Citi analysts said in a note carried by Bloomberg. “We expect the MOU to hold and turn into a deal over the coming months as incentives to de-esca

India Denies Directly Exporting Fuel to Russia, But Admits Traders May Be

Indian refiners are not directly exporting any refined petroleum products to fuel-starved Russia, although some supplies from traders are likely reaching Russia, India’s Oil Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, has said. Reports emerged earlier this week that Russia had started importing fuel from India by sea in a bid to ease the fuel shortages triggered by Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian refineries. In an exclusive Reuters report, industry sources revealed that an initial shipment of at least 60,0

Oil Set for Fourth Straight Weekly Loss as Hormuz Flows Return

Oil futures were on track to post their fourth consecutive weekly loss early on Friday as the tentative reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the uptick in oil flows weigh down prices. In Asian trade early on Friday, with U.S. markets closed for the July 4 weekend, both benchmarks, Brent and WTI, were gaining about 0.5% on some profit-taking. Over the past three weeks, prices have slumped to nearly pre-war levels, with Brent now in the low $70s per barrel and WTI Crude trading below $70. The U.S

US touts regional ‘balance’ in missile sale to Singapore. What does it mean?

Washington has recently approved a proposed US$22.3 million sale of additional Hellfire missiles to Singapore, with the US State Department declaring that the transfer and associated arms support “will not alter the basic military balance in the region”. While observers say the sale is a routine purchase by the city state for training and to replenish an advanced arsenal, America’s language on the move signals a broader strategy to strengthen a network of US allies and partners while avoiding...

Japan's LNG Imports Fall 7% as Utilities Chase Cheaper Coal

Japan last month reduced gas-fired generation in favor of coal as the price of liquefied natural gas remained elevated despite multiple reports of energy flows out of the Strait of Hormuz improving. The country generated 17.3 terawatt-hours from gas-fired power plants in June, Bloomberg reported, which was down by 16% on June 2025. Coal-fired generation, meanwhile, went up by 4.6%, according to data from the nine largest Japanese power utilities. Japan has been burning more coal and less gas for

Where to put the money?

Hello everyone, my wife and I (both 30) + child have a total monthly income of a good €7k. We currently set aside around €3k per month. We have too little equity to build/buy a house and therefore too little income. In 3 years you might build up €100k in equity, but the interest could be somewhere else and the construction and land costs will definitely not be any lower. So context: life between Munich, Ingolstadt and Augsburg. Child goes to school there and the costs are typical for southern Bavaria
