Förderrente (Riester) Scam - was damit tun?

In 2024 sogar +26%.

2 notable women in ancient China broke barriers, made major contributions to medicine, science

In ancient China, women were largely denied formal education and confined to the roles of dutiful wives and mothers. Against this restrictive social order, two women pushed beyond the limits and left notable marks on medicine, astronomy and mathematics. About 1,500 years ago, during the Southern dynasties, Zhang Xiugu is believed to have made an early contribution to pathological anatomy in China. According to The History of the Southern Dynasties, Zhang lived in what is now Anhui province in...

Bordering Russia, Norway adopts ‘total defence’ mode with focus on civil readiness

War is now a possibility in Norway, by the prime minister’s own admission. The country, which borders Russia, has gone into “total defence” mode, preparing its population for the worst in light of the fighting in Ukraine. Dug beneath a peaceful park, the St. Hanshaugen air raid shelter, one of Oslo’s largest, can take in 1,100 people behind its heavy metal doors if ever the worst comes to pass. The air is chilly, the lights dim, and the toilets basic: it is far from cosy, but it is designed to..

Israel thrusts reluctant UAE into open over defence ties

For months, the United Arab Emirates had denied Iran’s accusations that it was in league with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or hosting his country’s military personnel. Then, US ambassador to Israel Mick Huckabee handed Tehran a propaganda gift and Abu Dhabi a diplomatic headache all in a single sentence. Israel sent Iron Dome air defence batteries to the UAE amid the ongoing war on Iran to help protect it from Iranian attacks, Huckabee confirmed at a conference in Tel Aviv on May...

Whiplash in Taiwan? How Donald Trump’s blunt warning collides with a historic call offer

Donald Trump’s blunt warning that he was not looking to have “somebody go independent” after his summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping has reignited debate in Taiwan over whether Washington is hardening its message on the island. For many in Taipei, the US president’s remarks evoked memories of the George W. Bush administration, when Washington publicly checked Taiwan over moves seen as edging towards formal independence. But just as analysts were debating whether Trump had delivered the...

‘Chase your dreams’, Hong Kong’s first astronaut tells city’s young people

Hong Kong’s first astronaut has encouraged the city’s young people to chase their dreams, declaring that “there must be a better tomorrow” if everyone works hard and bears the country in mind when pursuing one’s goals. Payload specialist Lai Ka-ying, one of three astronauts on the Shenzhou-23’s mission to China’s Tiangong space station scheduled to launch on Sunday evening, told Hongkongers in a press conference on Saturday that she would “ga yau”, meaning to step up efforts in Cantonese. “Thank

Mock cockroach-theme political party draws India’s jobless youth, Modi’s rivals

A mock political party erupted across Indian social media this week, becoming a symbol of Gen Z disillusionment with the country’s political establishment and anger over a worsening jobs crisis in the world’s most populous nation. The Cockroach Janta Party, as the satirical movement is known, has already overtaken the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on Instagram, racking up nearly 20 million followers and attracting attention from rivals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Cockroach Janta Party...

Chinese scientists grow heart’s ‘master conductor’ that could replace pacemaker

Scientists in Shanghai have used stem cells to create the world’s first laboratory-grown sinoatrial node – the tiny structure that acts as the heart’s natural pacemaker. Capable of beating autonomously, the organoid is a breakthrough that researchers say could transform cardiac disease research and drug screening. The heart’s ability to beat continuously and rhythmically depends on the sinoatrial node, which is nestled inside the right atrial chamber. Acting as the heart’s “master conductor”,...

27 countries seek access to World Bank funds since Iran war

Twenty-seven countries have moved since the Iran war started to put in place crisis instruments that could quickly access funding from existing World Bank programmes, according to an internal document viewed by Reuters.

Llevo un tiempo operando el Opening Range Breakout en QQQ y siempre me quedaba con la misma duda: ¿qué pasa exactamente después del breakout? La mayoría de la literatura se detiene justo en el momento de la ruptura, como si todo lo interesante terminara ahí. Así que decidí medirlo. Analicé datos intradiarios al minuto de QQQ de 2017 a 2024 y documenté la secuencia completa: el rango de apertura, el breakout, el retest, y el resultado. Algunas cosas confirmaron intuiciones que ya tenía operando;

Ancient Chinese texts depict ‘immortal mirror’ akin to CT scan – an early notion of robots

Ancient China dreamed of future technology long before the modern age, conjuring visions of magic mirrors, ingenious machines and even lifelike wooden puppets. In the Tang dynasty (618–907) text Duyang Miscellaneous Records, a mysterious stone called the “immortal mirror” appears as a precursor to the CT scan. Found in the southwest of an unnamed land, the polished stone was said to span hundreds of kilometres. Passers-by could look into it like a mirror, but instead of reflecting their faces,..

Colombia's Natural Gas Crisis Deepens as Strait of Hormuz Closure Cuts Supply

Strife-torn Colombia is facing a severe energy crisis at a critical juncture. Global supply of natural gas is heavily constrained due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz after U.S. strikes on Iran. This could not come at a worse time for Colombia, with the Andean country experiencing a massive surge in demand for natural gas at a time when domestic production is declining. The rapidly growing supply shortfall was filled by costly liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports, the future of which now ap

Asia’s Next Energy Hub May Rise in Malaysia

Global energy market assumptions are breaking down. Until the Iran War, global oil and gas markets were built on a dangerous illusion: that the Strait of Hormuz would always remain open, predictable, and commercially dependable. Asia’s entire energy security architecture, from LNG flows to crude imports and refined product trading, was designed around that assumption. Today, that assumption is collapsing in real time. The combined pressure of Iranian threats in the Strait of Hormuz, persistent i

3D-Printed Copper Plates Could Cut Data Center Cooling Energy Use by 97%

The artificial intelligence boom is creating an energy monster that the world is unprepared and unequipped to deal with. Providing enough energy to fuel the AI ambitions of the future as well as to support human demand and development will require advances in energy technologies that are as-yet undiscovered. “There’s no way to get there without a breakthrough,” Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of ChatGPT firm OpenAI, said at the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Oil Prices Rise as Iran Tempers U.S. Deal Hopes

Oil prices turned to a gain Friday after Iran poured cold water on growing market hopes for a near-term agreement with the United States, reminding traders yet again that optimism around diplomacy and reality on the ground are not always moving in the same direction. Brent crude rose 0.78%, while U.S. benchmark WTI climbed 0.20% to $96.54. The move reversed part of Thursday’s selloff, which briefly pushed both benchmarks to their lowest levels in nearly two weeks after comments from U.S. officia
