Philippine military chief assures no political intervention amid Senate turmoil

The Philippines’ armed forces chief has moved to quell fears of political intervention after a bitter Senate leadership crisis triggered tighter security, stalled military promotions and fuelled concern that partisan groups could exploit “rumblings” inside the ranks. Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jnr acknowledged unease among some personnel but told This Week in Asia that the military would remain out of politics. “Political intervention is far from our mandate,” Brawner said

Where to move money for a house purchase that has been delayed.

I've been saving for a down payment on a house but now it does not seem it will happen for at least another 3-4 years. I have all that money in TFLO (Treasury Floating Rate Bond ETF) but I know I'm loosing money because of inflation. I've look at TIP and STIP but I already got burned when the Feds increased interest rates. Also, I've looked at FDHY and it seems like a good choice but it does have some volatility and if I need the money and it drops, I'm screwed. Any type or category of investmen

[BBC via Yahoo:] Trump says he 'loves the inflation' as US prices rise at fastest rate in three years

First few sentences: Donald Trump has said he "loves the inflation" facing the US as prices in May rose at their fastest rate in three years. The US president said the "numbers were great" when asked about Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) figures showing prices rose by 4.2% in May from a year earlier. The increase, from 3.8% in April, was largely driven by rising energy costs in the wake of the US Israel war in Iran. Speaking from the White House, Trump said: "I love it. The numbers were great.

The United States ramped up pressure on Iran on Wednesday, with President Donald Trump threatening more strikes and the Treasury Department slapping fresh sanctions on entities that it says “have supported weapons procurement” on behalf of Tehran, including some in China and Hong Kong. “We hit them hard yesterday and we’re going to hit them again hard today,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday. “We’ll see what happens with the deal. We’re really close to a deal but they keep...

Arbor Realty Trust - Long Position Thesis Initiated - Rate Cut Prospectus

Arbor Realty Trust rightly has been punished over the past 12 months for underperforming assets and delinquent loans on a sizable aspect of their serviceable portfolio. The market has trimmed the company in half, and the company in lock step trimmed their dividend furthering the stock losses. One major puzzle piece is ahead that can create major tailwinds. The new Fed Chair may surprise us in the next 12-18 months, within conservative windows of when Arbor will need to refinance debt. If rate cu

Why are so many new EU investors jumping straight into speculation, heavy leverage and Etoro CFDs instead of just buying and holding long-term?

I've been chatting with a bunch of friends and acquaintances lately who are just getting into investing, and it's honestly blowing my mind how many of them are going straight for the high-risk stuff. Like, not even dipping a toe in with some boring index funds or a simple long-term portfolio – nah, they're talking about loading up on individual stocks with tons of leverage, trading CFDs on Etoro, or chasing whatever meme is hot that week. One mate in Germany was telling me he's 5x leveraged on s

Energy Prices Drive U.S. Inflation To Three-Year High

U.S. inflation climbed above 4% for the first time in three years in May as rising energy costs tied to the Iran war pushed consumer costs sharply higher, with the Consumer Price Index rising 0.5% from April and 4.2% from a year earlier, according to data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The annual rate matched economists’ expectations but marked the highest inflation reading since April 2023 and an acceleration from the 3.8% rate recorded in April. Energy was by far the lar

Inflation is so high that it's erasing all wage gains (post by Heather Long)

Inflation: 4.2% in May for the past year Wage growth: 3.4% in May for the past year. Americans are getting squeezed financially. This isn't just "bad vibes" about the economy. There is real pain, especially for middle-class olds. It's tough because so many basic items are seeing sizable price increases: gas, electricity, food, medical care. https://x.com/byHeatherLong/status/2064689032580198480?s=20 submitted by /u/dope-a-meanie [link] [comments]

CNBC: investors are fleeing tech stocks in record numbers

Article: https://www.cnbc.com/2026/06/10/investors-are-fleeing-tech-stocks-in-record-numbers.html Key points The AI trade looks like it is finally cooling off. Investors are dumping Big Tech after a strong jobs report pushed Treasury yields higher. The market is realizing that the Federal Reserve may keep rates higher for longer, and that changes the valuation math for expensive tech stocks. This does not mean AI is fake or that the market is collapsing. It looks more like money is rotating out

US inflation spikes to 3-year high in May as Iran war energy shock persists

US consumer inflation surged to a fresh three-year high in May, according to official data released on Wednesday, as increased energy prices rippled through the world’s largest economy. Why I think Berkshire Hathaway is the best investment right now

Disclaimer: I just bought BRK.B so my analysis may be biased. Data sourced from Tradingview, Xfinlink and FRED. This article is not meant to be financial advice, DYOR. tldr; US debt is too big for the old "print and normalize later" playbook, so the next crisis likely gets solved the British way: rates below inflation for years, bondholders eat the loss. In that world real assets win. BRK is the cleanest way to play it: $300B cash hedge, insurance float leverage, railroad/utilities/energy, plus
