Abolition of the “onshore wind law”
In a motion submitted, the AfD parliamentary group is calling for the abolition of the “onshore wind law”, which sets binding area targets for the expansion of wind energy. In its proposal, the parliamentary group criticizes the fact that the law leads to massive sealing of areas, interventions in nature and the landscape, weakening of species protection and increased construction of wind turbines on forest areas, thereby endangering the quality of life and the economy of Thuringia. The AfD parliamentary group is therefore calling on the state government to advocate for the abolition of the law in the Bundesrat, to change the state development program accordingly and to rely on other energy sources instead. The application was rejected with 47 votes against. 32 MPs voted yes, there were no abstentions.
