State hunting law
The state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate passed a new state hunting law in a roll-call vote. With the law, the state government wants to adapt hunting law to today's requirements. It is intended to better protect forests and fields from damage caused by wild animals, preserve endangered species and strengthen animal protection. In addition, landowners should be given more rights, for example when it comes to hunting leases and protection against damage caused by game. If forests are threatened by too many animals, authorities should be able to order stricter shooting plans. In addition, hunting administration should be increasingly digitized and special rules should apply to dealing with wolves. With the law, the country wants to better harmonize hunting, nature conservation and property rights. The bill was approved in the final vote with 52 votes in favour. 46 MPs voted against and there were no abstentions.
