◇ Essential content
The Brandenburg state parliament voted on a motion by the AfD parliamentary group to dissolve the state parliament. The application was justified by the failure of the coalition of SPD and BSW under Prime Minister Dr. Dietmar Woidke. According to the AfD, stable governance is no longer possible. An early election should create new majority conditions. The state parliament should therefore be dissolved in accordance with Article 62 paragraph 2 of the state constitution. The motion was rejected by 47 votes against to 36 votes in favor. This means that the two-thirds majority required to dissolve the state parliament was not achieved.
