The state parliament voted in particular on two proposals to reduce VAT for the catering industry. The question is whether the VAT rate for the catering industry should be permanently reduced from 19 to 7 percent. This is actually introduced as a bill by the federal government and passed or rejected by the Bundestag. However, every bill must also be approved by the Federal Council and the state government of Baden-Württemberg also has a say here. The amendment to the FDP/DVP's proposal from the government factions ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS and CDU, which was voted on by roll call, was accepted. In addition to the demand to support the long-term reduction in VAT in the Federal Council, it also states the commitment to a fair distribution of the burden between the federal and state governments. The motion would be approved with 118 votes in favor and 17 against. There were no abstentions.
