Enable the flagging of municipal departments without any reason
In a roll-call vote, the state parliament dealt with a proposal from the AfD parliamentary group to change the state flagging regulations. This calls on the state government to allow municipalities and municipal associations to permanently flag their offices with the federal and state flags, even without a special public occasion. As justification, reference is made to corresponding demands from the local level. The Vorpommern-Rügen district council and the city council of the state capital Schwerin, among others, have made corresponding decisions. The aim of the application is to give municipalities more freedom to decide on the sovereign flagging of their buildings. The application was rejected with 53 votes against. 13 MPs voted yes, there was one abstention from Sandy van Baal (Team Freedom).
