Do not set up an investigative committee to deal with the corona pandemic (recommendation)
The AfD parliamentary group's motion was discussed in the Bundestag, which calls for the establishment of a parliamentary committee of inquiry to deal with the corona pandemic. According to the group, the aim of the committee is to examine the political decisions and measures during the pandemic, particularly with regard to their proportionality and impact on society. The applicants emphasize the need for comprehensive education in order to learn lessons for future crises. According to Article 44 of the Basic Law, the Bundestag can set up a committee of inquiry if a quarter of its members request this. The proposal requires the committee to consist of nine full members. The Committee for Electoral Verification, Immunity and Rules of Procedure made a recommendation for the application, recommending that the application be rejected. The recommendation for a resolution was voted on by name. The recommendation was approved with 450 votes. 146 MPs voted against it, including Jürgen Coße (SPD), contrary to his party line. There was one abstention from Saskia Ludwig (CDU).
