The state parliament has approved an emergency motion from the CSU and FREIEN WÄHLER factions that there should be no further liberalization of abortion law and that the regulations on criminal liability and impunity in Sections 218 and 218a of the Criminal Code (StGB) should continue to exist. The importance of human dignity according to Article 1 of the Basic Law is emphasized, including for unborn life. At the same time, the applicants emphasize the interaction between protection of life and concrete support for pregnant women. The emergency motion was approved with 110 votes in favor and 36 against. There was also a dissenting vote from Gabi Schmidt's FREIEN WÄHLER faction. There were no abstentions.
