The Bundestag has approved the continued participation of the Bundeswehr with up to 50 soldiers in the United Nations-led mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). The mandate is limited to the end of October 2026 and was last extended by roll-call vote in January 2025. According to the application, the aim of the mission is to protect civilians, monitor the human rights situation and support the implementation of the peace agreement and the peace process. The additional operational costs for the period amount to around one million euros. In its recommendation for a resolution, the Foreign Affairs Committee recommends acceptance of the application. The Budget Committee also submitted a report assessing the compatibility of the project with the federal budget situation. The corresponding resolution recommendation and thus the extension of the deployment were approved with 494 votes. 72 MPs voted against, there were four abstentions from Jan Dieren (SPD) and the three AfD MPs Torben Braga, Jan Feser and Rainer Rothfuß. Contrary to her group, Simone Fischer (ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS) voted against the motion.

No vote breakdown available yet — either the proceeding is still pending, or per-MP data will be fetched in a follow-up step.
