In the final vote, Parliament dealt with the draft law to introduce automated data analysis and to change other police regulations. The aim of the law is to bring together previously unconnected data sets from the police enforcement service in a legally secure analysis platform and thus enable more efficient evaluation. In addition, the draft creates a legal basis for the use of so-called advanced mobile location technology, with which location data can be automatically transmitted during emergency calls in order to locate people seeking help more quickly. Finally, the law strengthens the police's powers to independently develop and test information technology products in order to reduce dependencies on non-European providers. Clear legal, technical and organizational requirements should ensure a high level of data protection and the development of non-discriminatory IT applications. The introduction of the analysis platform was particularly controversial politically, as it is considered a prerequisite for the use of the controversial Palantir software. Critics expressed concerns about possible encroachments on fundamental rights, the transparency of the algorithms and the dependence on a US provider. The bill was approved with 113 votes in favor to 22 against, with one abstention from Pix Reinhold (ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS). Two motions for resolutions from the BÜNDNIS 90/THE GREENS and CDU and SPD factions were also voted on by roll call. The results of these votes can be found below under “Other Roll Call Votes.”
