The Bundestag has approved an extension of the mandate, which expires at the end of November, for the Bundeswehr's continued participation in the NATO operation SEA GUARDIAN in the Mediterranean. The last roll-call vote was on an extension by one year in January 2025. As before, up to 550 soldiers will be deployed to monitor the maritime area in the Mediterranean, combat terrorism and prevent arms smuggling. There was a recommendation for a decision from the Foreign Affairs Committee on the Federal Government's proposal, which was voted on by roll call. The recommendation recommends the acceptance of the application. The Budget Committee also published a report on the compatibility of the application with the federal budget situation. The recommendation for a resolution and thus also the motion were accepted with 387 votes. 169 MPs voted against, there were three abstentions from Jan Dieren (SPD), Ruppert Stüwe (SPD) and Corinna Rüffer (ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS). Green MP Max Lucks was the only member of his group to vote no.

No vote breakdown available yet — either the proceeding is still pending, or per-MP data will be fetched in a follow-up step.
