No abolition of CO2 pricing (recommendation)
In a roll-call vote, the Bundestag dealt with a proposal from the AfD parliamentary group, which would like to completely abolish the law on saving energy and using renewable energies to generate heat and cold in buildings (Building Energy Act, GEG) and abolish the CO₂ pricing of heating oil and gas without replacing it. The implementation of corresponding EU requirements such as the Green Deal and the CO₂ border adjustment should also be stopped immediately. The AfD doubts that the heating law will actually be abolished, as announced by the coalition. Instead, from the group's point of view, an attempt is being made to force oil and gas heating systems out of the market indirectly through rising CO₂ costs and to make them so expensive that the owners of the heating systems can no longer afford to use them. The Committee for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety has made a recommendation for the application, in which it is recommended that it be rejected. The resolution recommendation, which recommends rejecting the AfD parliamentary group's motion, was approved with 442 yes votes. 138 MPs voted no and there were no abstentions.
