Closure of the Wolfach emergency practice (petition)

A petition to close the Wolfach emergency practice was voted on in parliament. The petitioner objected to the decision of the Baden-Württemberg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVBW) to close the on-call practice in Wolfach as part of a nationwide restructuring. She also criticized the fact that the KVBW was anticipating possible federal reforms of emergency care with the closure and feared negative effects on the Wolfach Hospital. The KVBW pointed out that the practice was closed on October 30, 2025 and that in the future care will be ensured via the on-call practice in Lahr as well as through additional capacities in surrounding locations. The Petitions Committee came to the conclusion that the KVBW's decisions were not legally objectionable and that there were no errors of discretion. Accordingly, the state parliament decided not to remedy the petition and accepted the resolution recommendation of the Petitions Committee with 87 yes votes to 30 no votes and 17 abstentions.
