Essential content

Following a recommendation from the Election Audit Committee, the Bundestag has rejected two objections to the federal election on February 23, 2025. The objections were directed against the election result of the “Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht – Reason and Justice” (BSW) party, which narrowly failed to meet the five percent hurdle with 4.981 percent of the valid second votes. The party was 9,529 votes short of entering the Bundestag. The BSW had claimed that there had been numerous counting errors and called for a recount or at least a reevaluation of invalid votes. The election audit committee rejected the objections as unfounded. There were no mandate-relevant violations of electoral law provisions that would constitute an election error or justify a change in the election results. The recommendation for a resolution and thus the rejection of the objections were accepted with 426 votes. 129 MPs from the AfD parliamentary group voted for a recount, with one abstention from Pascal Meiser (Die Linke parliamentary group).

No vote breakdown available yet — either the proceeding is still pending, or per-MP data will be fetched in a follow-up step.
