Application against left-wing extremist intimidation in Bremen
A motion from the CDU parliamentary group in the Bremen parliament, which deals with a paint attack on the home of the head of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution in January 2026, was accepted. The background is an attack suspected to be motivated by left-wing extremism, in which the house and the car of an uninvolved neighboring family were damaged. In the application, the act is assessed as a targeted attempt at intimidation and an attack on the democratic constitutional state. Citizens should clearly condemn the attack and any form of politically motivated violence and oppose their relativization. It is also emphasized that such acts should not be legitimized as activism, but should be classified as violent crime against state institutions and their representatives. In addition, the application emphasizes that the protection of security agency employees and their families is a central task of the state. Citizens should express their solidarity with the head of the authority concerned, his family and other victims and send a non-partisan signal of zero tolerance towards political violence. The motion was approved with 38 votes in favor and 45 abstentions. There were no dissenting voices.
