Essential content

The Bundestag has rejected a proposal from the AfD parliamentary group on the future of drug supply and the strengthening of pharmacies. The applicants justify their initiative with the declining number of pharmacies in Germany as well as problems such as rising costs, delivery bottlenecks, a shortage of skilled workers and growing bureaucracy. From the AfD's perspective, smaller pharmacies in rural areas are particularly important for providing care close to home. The application calls, among other things, for a significant increase in pharmacy remuneration and a regular adjustment to inflation. In addition, surcharges for prescription drugs, emergency services and delivery bottlenecks are to be increased. The federal government is also called upon to develop measures to combat bureaucracy in pharmacies and to combat the shortage of skilled workers through more training positions and free PTA training. Further demands include greater cooperation between pharmacies in laboratory and prescription work as well as a clear separation of the tasks of doctors and pharmacists. There was a recommendation for a resolution from the Health Committee for the AfD parliamentary group's proposal, which recommended rejection. The recommendation for a resolution was voted on by name. This was approved with 440 yes votes. 126 MPs voted against and there were no abstentions. Accordingly, the AfD's application was rejected.
