Short-term car rental (in Italy) without a credit card

Do any of you have any experience with renting a car at short notice (in Italy) from the usual car rental companies without a real credit card? You currently only have a DKB Visa debit card and there are no longer enough working days before your spontaneous vacation to receive a credit card by post. Any tips?
